Carb Synching

I'm not sure if this is what vogelm1 did but this is how I use a T for my sync tool:

All you need is a plastic or pvc style T that is the proper diameter to fit into the hose on your carb sync tool. Your carb sync tool will have 4 hoses coming off it that will connect to the inlets on the carbs which are located between the carb and the motor. The two in the middle have rubber plugs on them that pull off and the outside ones have hoses that run to the fuel pump. What you basically need to do is get two T's and some extra hose (unless you want to splice into the hoses that come with the sync tool) so that you can still have those two fuel pump hoses connected while you connect your carb sync tool; hence maintaining vacuum pressure for the fuel pumps and to the carb sync tool. Using the T, you will connect one end into the carb sync hose and the other two ends will connect to the fuel pump hose and the extra piece of hose you will now use to connect the carb inlet.

Sure, I'll try to upload a quick photo showing one of the tube lines...basically, the very end of the rubber tube gets plugged onto the fitting on the carb, while the prong with no tube attached gets plugged onto the vacuum line. Another thing to keep in mind is the "tee" goes on the same end of the rubber line that has the 'restrictors' in it - this will make sense once you get the Carbtune and read over the instructions. The restrictors are inserted into the black rubber tube and keep the rods from fluctuating too much and not getting a good reading.

Yep, I pretty much did what Rob said...except I have the 3 cylinder Vector which has a slightly different carb arrangement. Two of the carbs have vacuum lines attached to nipples, while the third carb just has a rubber plug on it. I use the "tee's" only on the two carbs with vacuum lines. The vacuum line plugs into the side tee of each rubber hose. For the cylinder with just the plug on it, I remove the rubber plug and attach a non-tee'd hose directly to the nipple - no tee needed. Hope this makes sense!
 
Cool - you'll have fun with it. It's especially nice to pull it out anytime you want and check things. I've been synching the carbs at the beginning of each season now, or after having the carbs apart for a cleaning. Always nice to have the right tool for the job.
 
Although I haven't got my carbs cleaned and put back together yet to use it, I recieved my Morgan Cartune a few days ago...very nice product!!! As soon as I unrapped it and saw the case it came in I knew it was going to be a nice product!!! If anyone is in the market for a carb synching tool, this is the one to get!!! With the current exchange rate it cost me $92 with the storage case and shipping. Just back in October of 2008, it was $115 without the case!!!! For anyone ordering one, the case is definitly worth the extra bit of money!!! I'll give an update when I get a chance to use it and let anyone else who might be a little scared to do it themselves know how easy it is for a first-timer like myself!!!

I have it as well. First time I used it, it took 45 minutes to sync the carbs. This evening it took 15 minutes. It's a great tool, you won't regret buying it :)
 
Well, just got my carbs all put back together, with socket head cap screws instead of the worthless philips-heads on the bowls!!!! It took me about 20 minutes to get the tubes modified (installing restrictors, and installing brass 'T's in two of the four lines). It took me about another 20 minutes to hook up the lines, sync the carbs, and disconnect everything!!! WOW, was that ever easy!!! My carbs weren't too far off, but definitly a bit out of spec. Now they're dead on!!!

The Morgan Carbtune is a very nice product, which I would recommend to anyone interested in one!!! Although I haven't had it long, I can say it seems to be very well made and a very quality product!!!

Carb sync

Seems like a whole lot of expense and work just to sync up the carbs.
I maybe pretty old school but I've been using a little gadget called a Unisync

for about 40 years, starting with the SU carbs on my MG, and any other multi-carb setup I've encountered since.

Can't rember what mine cost me (probably $5.00) but I see it advertised for $19.95. Works on the same principle as the $100 one!!
 
The Morgen Carb Tune will take all 4 cylinders at once, it cost more but it's accurate and easy to use.

I dont think UNIsync will work on any CV type carbs as they dont idle well with the airbox off. I could be wrong tho.... Plus who wants to remove the airbox to sync when you dont have to.
