I installed my Woody's Dual Carbides on my Attak following the manufactures instructions that came with them. The carbides are "bowed" and there is a small gap in the center between the carbides and the skis. I torqued the nuts to 15 lbs as spec'd, but this was not enough to take out the gap.

My question is, should there be a gap? I torqued the nuts while the front end was up in the air. Should I have lowered the Attak back to the ground allowing the weight of the front end to "compress" the carbides and then torqued them?

My Bergstrum carbides also have a gap. I wouldn't worry about it.

It is possible they put a bow into them for an 'easy steer' factor.
Similar to 2000-2001 whenever it was they put a bow into the ski saddle mount.

That was my concern, do I tighten them more and take the intentional bow out? Maybe it's supposed to be there, to create the "shim" affect of having the front of the carbide slightly higher than the rear. They are bowed when they come out of the package, there's not doubt about that. But I have to wonder, they're taking a fair amount of abuse, with rocks and stumps and lumps, etc, all I picture is the center flexing up and down repeatedly. It just felt wrong, I want them snug to the ski, to be one unit.

Good to know, I love it when I'm not alone. I'm sure I have more to worry about in my life, but I just had to ask you more experienced guys about it. I'm green, green like your front lawn.......awesome sled though, my heart rate is still up after hitting that throttle for the first time.

I just picked up two sets of Woody Duelley"s also. But not installed yet waiting for some snow. However used them on my Polaris last couple years and they bowed a little too. Didn"t cause any problem they should be fine.

thanks Tork and Arctic Express,

I'm going to re-torque them this weekend with the front end on the ground - not exceeding 15 lbs. The instructions said you should check them periodically anyways, I assume they seat with time.
