Chain Case Failure?

That sucks. Two in two days. There better not be a pattern forming.
actually three i think. 2blu2u had it happen as well.

Yes, this happened to me last week when I was over 3/4 mile out on Lake Winnebago. Not fun being towed in by a Polaris 6 wheeler!
Will my YES cover the tow bill???

I understand some people have had issues, I pray to God I don't when I finally get to ride. This is the good and bad of the Internet things get blown all out of proportion and spread like a wildfire. It's nice to hear about possible issues so you can check stuff over and get ahead of it but at the same time it's all too easy to get caught up in the doom and gloom of the situation. My 06 Fusion 700 was in its time the biggest Internet lemon that ever existed and for me it was probably one of the most trouble free sleds I've ever owned. 4 failed chaincase doesn't make a pandemic, have a little faith that if you have issues Yamaha will make it right. Enjoy your machines. The most vocal people are always the ones having issues, it's human nature. There are thousands of vipers out there that will never have an issue. My $0.02

good point Deerhuntr

I laugh to myself and smile. Why does anyone think this sled is going to be any different from a 2012 or 2013 or even a 2014 cat. For the isues that they have had for the last few years.

evil eagle, please see my thread called "I hope I didnt make a mistake!

Are we sure these sleds aren't just popping out of gear do to incorrect actuator installation
You might recall my post about popping out of gear, since i re installed my actuator correctly i've had zero issues but when i did happen it sounded like i grenaded my chaincase
Has anyone pulled apart one that failed?

My xtx popped out of gear with 5 miles on it. i shut it off, turned it back on and put it into reverse than back to forward, it worked after that. I got around 100 miles on it now and it has not happened again. Sled is stock. No i did not change tracks. Other than that happening, the sled has been awesome! Love riding this sled!

Wacker can you elaborate on how to install it correctly? I am pulling mine apart today.

When it does pop out of gear can you simply put it in reverse and then drive again to at least get home?

When you reinstall the actuator you need to make sure the gear that it fits into on the chaincase is as far counter clockwise as possible, you can achieve this by rocking the secondary back and forth while you turn it .then install the actuator in the 1:00 position and turn it back to the 12:00 position to line up the bolt holes.Careful not to overtighten these screws as the housing is plastic and cracks real easy. Then fire it up and cycle from reverse to forward a few times the actuator is supposed to finish setting itself
Really starting to wonder if a lot of these issues could be dealer related as they really aren't very well informed when it comes to this sled :o|

As you can tell i came off a doo and took a big chance on this sled but in doing so i also accept the challenges of owning a first year sled.If you think about it ,without guys that buy first year sleds this sport would have gone nowhere so to bitch about the sled and manufacturer without giving them a chance to get it right is BS and not at all productive!!

Banks why are you here? Just to stir the pot I presume from reading your other posts. Shouldn't you be reading about how to replace the pistons and rings in your 800e tech? They haven't gotten that figured out since I owned my Rev in 03, pot calling the kettle black in my opinion. Go to Doo Talk, if you have something worthwhile to offer please do if not shut your pie hole.

How so? The ProCross has been around since 2012, this is not a first year sled. All these issues have been around since the 11/12 season. Reverse not working, grinding noises, popping out of gear, reverse not working, this is nothing new to these sleds. Cat has done redesigns and updates on this exact system but still working like shite, even the new 14 Cats are starting to act up.

IMO Banks is stating the obvious. The 2012 and newer cats have major issues. These new Yamaha were supposed to be the corrected version.

These sleds were promised as Yamaha's, not as blue Arctic Cats.
