Gearlube only ,trans fluid for racing.

i've always run amsoil atf in my chaincases - i started with my viper and have run it in my phazers along with my sons nytros. i figure they recommend atf in transfer cases so it's good enough for the sled - no gear to gear contact plus the chain so atf is my choice.

Good point, 4x4 transfer cases are very similar to a sled chain case. In fact most use the same type of chain. Only difference may be the speeds of the internals. Stock requirement for the transfer case is ATF, some shops are recommending a new Amsoil tractor oil for Duramax cases. like I said, anything may work but I've just stuck with what worked for me, I also think that changing it out frequently helps and the shearing forces probably break it down quickly. Just cause it may be clean doesn't mean it's working.

A big mistake a lot of folks make, with a lot of oils/lubes!
Personally, if I find oils/lubes that are not dirty, then I question the cleaning capabilities of them, which usually makes me discontinue their use!

Amsoil chain case lube in all my sleds (chaincase) plus almost everyone I ride with. Waay!! too many miles to add up and 0 problems! Infact I don't beleive I can say we have ever had any chaincase problems. I have changed driveshaft bearings and upon opening the chaincase up can't beleive how well the chain and gears look.....some sleds with over 10,000 miles! Now I hope I didn't "jinks" myself!

plus it's red - and i like red.
my son had an 8500 mile AC, i had a 5000 mile phazer and my son had a 7000 mile nytro that all looked good running the atf. i think anything would work just as long you keep it clean.

I have had older sleds myself and thats all we ran in the chaincase was atf with 0 problems. If you changed it twice a season I think that would be plenty. ATF is pretty tuff oil look what it goes through in a transmission.
