Anyone with a vector or rage having the chain case issues that the 4cyl guys are? I am reading all thier stuff and getting a little nervous. Just checking...

Funny thing on this topic. I have an Attak and a Vector. I was at the dealer and asked about the chain case issue and if Yamaha had put out a bulletin.
The dealer said her never heard of any issues but would call Yamaha. The Yamaha rep first complained that the question must have come from some guy on TY as thats where all this stuff comes from. Yamaha rep claimed only two cases of chain case failure were reported last year from the 4 cylinder sleds and both of these were from guys running wide open for long periods of time and they heated up naturally. Then he says that Yamaha has changed the chaincase for 07! I find it hard to beleive that Yami is re-tooling to change a chaincase which has only failed in two cases.
Next they'll be telling us they have no suspension wheel issues.

Makes you really wonder about "dealers interpretation" of this issue. Also, why would Yamaha re-design the 07 chain-case? Hmmmm???

The most recent good chain-case thread was moved to the "Need a Fix" section above.

More than two sleds have had problems.

As I recall from previous threads last year, and a poll that was taken, there were between 20-30 Apex and Attak owners that had chain-case problems.

As discussed on the tread in the "need a fix" section, what you have seen and heard from your dealer, Yamaha Reps are always quick to point fingers, try to confuse the issue, and not claim any company responsibility. This is a cheap, dilusional, and certainly a poor way of doing business.

It drives me crazy. :o|

Refer your dealer to the posts on the chain-case thread in the "Need a Fix" section.

There are more than two dealers that have the correct word from Yamaha, and understand the guidance provided on how to handle the chain-case cover issue.

Hope this helps! ;)!

I talked to my dealer also. NO chain case recall. I told him I seen this issue on TY, and he said you see alot on TY that isn't true. NO RECALL, NO FIX. He told me to call Yamaha if I'm concerned, as he has had zero failures, and NO dealer has had any failures that he knows. I personally know only one guy whom had a failure. That does not constitute a recall. Just for your info, guys

RTX DUDE,

True, there is no formal RECALL however, there should.

Yamaha has "crafted" their response in handling the issue by telling dealers that if someone had a problem last year they would rate the new re-designed 07 chain-case cover.

Probably your dealer did not have any chain-case problems last year, thus his response to you.

That doesn't mean other dealers that your dealer doesn't know about hasn't had any problems. They have.

IMHO Yamaha shouldn't get off that easy especially when they know there have been problems.

Why did Yamaha redesign the chain-case cover for 07 to begin with??? Hmmm... ;)!
