chaincase amount with reverse

read the dipstick it is clearly marked.you should probally buy a manual so you know you are fixing it right.the little bit you spend on a manual can save you from wrecking a very expensive sled

Sorry,

Don't have a manual yet and the owner's manual doesn't state how many ounces. I've had several sleds, wrench on 'em all and have never seen a dipstick show in ounces how much fluid goes in. Yes, I can read the arrows, but I'd prefer to know the amount. That's all I was asking.

Note that its not that important. If you overfill the chaincase, it won't do any harm. This is contrary to what happens when you overfill a crankcase - severe engine damage could occur.

With the chaincase, worst that can happen is that some excess might leak out, but on these cases, I don't even think that that would happen.

I changed mine today using the drain plug because I had some grinding in reverse yesterday. Adjusted the reverse linkage and it's alright now. Didn't take the cover off. About 6-7 ounces came out. But it read above the reverse and standard arrows on the dipstick before I started. I put about 5 back in and it still reads at the standard full mark. Above the reverse arrows. 8.5 ounces would be way over full. Should it read at the reverse arrows? I hate to take too much out.
