I'm curious why even have a dipstick... The chaincases aren't sealed, they are vented to atmosphere. Overfilling it shouldn't cause any harm, worst case is that it dribbles out a little oil.

Yes that what most are saying but its not the answer we want. We want the through and nothing but the through! :)

Second, where is this vent everyone keeps talking about? I hope its not through the rubber thing on the dipstick cause the hole would be so small I didn't notice.

Just in case anyone is curious. I found confirmation on this site. The vent is part of the rubber peace on the dipstick. I'll check mine tonight.

somebody used some logic a while back that stuck with me.

make sure your vent is clearly unobstructed, it is the slot in the rubber stopper on the dipstick. Makes sense to me, a high speed run heats up the oil which causes pressure.

I changed mine tonight, the belt cover says 6.9 ounces. 7 ounces took it to the rev mark. Should I put the other 1.5 ounces in?

Mine is apex rtx with reverse and on the clutch cover there is some info that states 8.5 oz of chain case lube( all apex's should have this info) and thats what I have used......no issues. Its funny because it shows it being slightly over filled on the dip stick, but that has always been confusing...
