Metallicat said:I used Amsoil 75-90 gear lube in my Cat for a couple of years, and then as I was buying a new bottle at a local snomo parts distributor, the clerk asked me what I was going to use it for. I told him for the chaincase of my sled, and he said that the gear lube is too thick and is not a good choice for chaincases because it provides too much resistance / viscosity in very cold temps and could potentially cause problems. He pointed to the Amsoil Series2000 chaincase lube and told to use that instead of the gear oil.

I also use the Series 2000 from Amsoil. Have been for a few years now. Great stuff, I change it every season. My chain and gears always look new.
