Hi All
Started my 2007 RS Venture every month all summer. Moved it from my barn to workshop a month ago. It started and ran fine. Started it a week ago. It started fine. I put more gas in the tank. I changed the oil yesterday and now it won't fire. It turns over fine, and only sputters for 1/2 second every now and then. I tried blowing air in the tanks overflow hose, and i tried to give it extra choke by partially blocking off all the carbs.
Any ideas?
Thanks

Sounds like fowled plugs - try change them. Possibly due to startting and stopping without warming the machine up enough.

just a thought but did you put the plug back on the dip stick ( or at least the apexes have it) and I would not atart it all the time like that....you are better off not doing that without a full warmup and driving the sled.

Could very well be the plugs as mentioned above.......

also when you took the old oil filter off did you get the black rubber ring with it? it tends to stick to the engine. Not sure if it would have anything to do with it starting or not.

You can also try putting gas into the 2 small hoses that's on the bottom of the carbs. Just take the airbox off and you'll see them. When I cleaned my carbs I did this and the sled started on first turn of the key.

X2...nothing worse to start and not let it fully warm-up :o| put in a NEW set and it should fire right up, like mentioned earlier make sure not to DOUBLE stack your oil filter "O" ring, I had a Bud of mine blow his engine that way, it ran with a doubled stack for 1000 kms or so then it let go and drained out of oil, light went on and started to hear a funny NOISE and stopped! cost him a new motor :exc:

Hi guys

Thanks for the info. Checked everything I could check, and couldn't find anything. Waited for Canadian Tire to open this Sunday morning and bought new plugs. Stuck them in and it fired right up.
25 years ago, a friend of mine changed the oil on a Dodge Coronet, and had issues with the oil filter gasket. I learned about the double gasket then. By the way, I've also seen a new filter missing its gasket.

Thanks again

Roger
