just watched vid from this forum on reverse method for hyfax removal for 08 nytro just wondering if the method is the same for phazer mtx looks like good method and i have to do mine.

Thats how i change mine every 500mi, lol.. get the end thru a hole and put it in reverse, blip the throttle, peels them right off.

I quit changing Hyfax.Is right on the line for two seasons now.I refuse to waste a new set til I get bigger wheels.

where r u riding that you need to change them every 500 miles?

A guy in general area said to use a 10 or 11mm open end wrench to check slide thickness. I tried it on an old set and it seemed pretty accurate. I can never see the line anyway. 3600 miles, and i just put on my 4th pair which it really didn't need, but i had the skid out in fall anyway. The first set went by the first 500 mile check-up, due to the dealer over adjusting (tightening) the track to try to compensate for initial track stretch. I have no extra wheels.

my wear of hyfax was right in middle between back and front of skid not in front bend so I threw the marginal snow wheel kit on here not sure if small wheel will hold up but had to try something and wheels are servicable.

That great fix for wear at front!Will do that next time my small wheels bearings fail.Still need to address rest of hyfax though.Bigger wheels is only solution that Yamaha should do themselves.

How about us guys with Freerides? That wideslide won't fit through the window. Do most of you guys shave one hole bigger on each side, or do you just pull the skid?

On the Vectors with the small windows we did the following;

1) Loosen off the track all the way.
2) Pry the old slides off. Just start at the back and using two screw drivers just work them over the edge. The hardest part is getting them started.
3) Put the new slide sideways though the track window at the rear of the rail.
4) Spray the track window and side with lots of Windex.
5) You can now rotate the side in the window (trust me it worked) to get lined up with the rail (get the slide from being sideways to the correct way up).
6) Then get the slide lined up and start tapping it forward with a block of wood, making sure to get it on the rail.
7) The rest is simple.

This is how my dealer told me to do it and I've done two Vectors this way. Works great. They had suggested WD-40 instead of Windex but the Windex evaporates after so there is no cleanup.

thank for parts list I will try this when my little wheel fails also I just finished installing new slides but just cut extra teflon off straight should i have beveled the ends like stock ends or will i be okay

I have a Freeride and they fit through just need to lube it a little.WD40 works also.
