I know it 's been said several times before but the darting on the stock yamaha skis is a serious problem. I know there is a thread just for this but all I got out of it was buy new skis, carbide runners or ski savers. There was mention of a shim but I didn't really understand it. So I did a little research and found that bergstrom's skegs was asking the same question I was. Why is it darting? The way I understand is there is downward pressure on the front of the ski causing it to hunt and dart into every other ski track on the trail. They suggested to experiment with shims between the rubber saddle and the rear portion of the ski. I tried a piece of 1/4" plastic 3"x3/4" and just placed it in the rear where the rubber saddle fits into the ski creating the ski to have a bit of a lift in the front. It seemed to help dramatically. There is a little push in the corners but I think it can be remedied by getting 6" carbides. I also have my weight transfer in the stock position. If I tightened if up a bit giving it less weight transfer it might help also. I only have stock carbides on it and noticed that when I was not on the throttle in the corners it actually handled pretty good. As I said before it's probably been suggested by some of you in the past and I don't want to be redundant but I thought this worked great for me and didn't really cost me anything to do. If someone else has tried this please give me your feedback to confirm if what I'm experiencing is right.

I would try the ski savers from Bergstrom. I believe they are pretty cheap......like $12 if I remember right. There is a link on here somewhere to the whole setup. I think it's under the Nytro forum. I'll see if I can find it.

Just thought it might give you something to ponder. Hope this helps some.

I expierenced same darting on my 07 RTX. Tried 1/4 shims, but compressed so far into the rubber after about 100 miles made sled dart again. I made my own 3/8 shims and works great. Illiminated about 90% of darting. So i think theres hope for the stock skis.

Thanks journeyman. That's what I was trying to get across. It really does work and it didn't cost me $400. Please understand that I'm somewhat new to the site and I didn't see that thread. Sorry and thanks.

i recently installed stud boys "deuce" carbide runners. darting is completly eliminated no shimming required still has a little push in corners though.

I used 3/8 of an inch plastic from tackle box dividers. Works pretty good. Asking Santa for some Pilots this year!
