I have read many different things and have done searches. All of the old posts say to NOT screw it in when checking but new posts say to SCREW it in when checking. I have checked with two different dealers and I got two different answers I have a 2009 FX Nytro. What do you guys do? I am trying to find out if I have bad valve seals. I only have 3000 miles on the sled so I hope I don't! Please let me know what you guys do????

when I check my oil I DO NOT screw the dip stick down. I have never had a problem doing it that way.

I think I am loosing oil, I put about 50 miles on this weekend and cant get any oil on the dipstick if I don't screw it on. If I screw it on, I get oil on the stick. I just had and oil change done before I put the 50 miles on.

Did you do the oil change or the dealer?

No its not. How many miles does your sled have on it? Has it ever been overheated?

I have 3000 miles. it has overheated but not since the oil change. And when over heated I stopped riding to let cool down. does over heating burn oil?
Unscrewed. From the Owner's Manual:

No but it can warp the head just a tiny bight and you could be losing oil to your coolant but I doubt thats the problem. If you look in your coolant you will see oil if that is the problem. But I would just do what RAMsledder said to do and watch it.

By overheating you mean the warm engine temp light came on or the sled shut down from over heating?
