Can anyone help me?
I have a 2004 Yamaha RX-1. I don't know if I'm suppose to screw the dipstick all the way in when I check the oil.
I parked on the side of a snowbank and the oil light came on. It went out after idleing a while, but when I checked the oil it didn't register on the dipstick. now I don't know if I am suppose to screw it back in or set it in the hole.
Thanks.

Thanks, any comments on which oil is the best to use, I just hit 2,100 miles.

I was told by my Yammi dealer to never use Syn oil in my 03 RX-1, as it needed a certain amount of friction for........then I kinda blank out on why.

The 04's must be different? My dip stick screws in and then the sensor plugs in to it....did this change in 04?

same dip stick and same way to check the oil. You should be checking yours unscrewed too.

from what I understand.... as long as you broke in your engine with yamalube, you can run whatever you want in it.... just remember that dino needs a change sooner

Your dealer read the manual, which had large sections copied directly out of the YZF-R1 manual, including some sections that are not applicable.

If I remember it right, that part telling not to use syntetic came from the bikes, it should not have been in the RX-1 Manual. The R1 bikes have a starter clutch that may not work running it on fully synt oil.
