Is there a trick to loosen the primary clutch main bolt?
I bought the Scmidt Bros. comfort clutch kit and don't have the yamaha sheave holder. Is there a trick to hold the sheave while I loosen the bolt?

Not 100% sure but i dont think you have to pull the complete clutch, also you will need a clutch puller,i think you will just have to remove the outer half of the clutch the weights and spyder, not the sheaves

you don't need a puller, just remove the 6 small bolts on the outer clutch half. Leave the center bolt in, and remove 3 of the small bolts ( 1 of each set) then slowly remove the other 3 a little at a time so the cover comes off even. I have used a ratchet strap to hold the cover in place while I remove the bolts then release the strap and the cover comes off, remove the spring, then you can slide the sheave and remove the weights. Putting the cover back on with the new spring might be a different story if the spring is longer.

I removed the 6 small bolts, but the cover wouldn't come off. I will try again.
Thanks

You might have to loosen the main bolt to allow the lock washer to "shrink" or return to its original size.

It might just need a little persuasion...if you do happen to remove the cover, be sure to align the "X" on the cover with the "X" on the inner half of the clutch when you put it back together.

I got it guys. Thanks for the help.
I was worried I might break something so I wasn't pulling hard enough.
