Gents,
I would like to take the clutches off for cleaning and check. Do you need a puller from yamaha or will something else work. Is there typically something to watch for as far as wear (rollers etc). Any input on what to check would be appreciated. Also, has anyone had any problems with the kit to reduce clutch rattle or does everyone recommend leaving it stock.
Thanks,
Greg

Just occaisonaly blow out the clutches with compressed air & use a green scotch brite pad to clean the faces. The yammie clutches on the triple 2 strokes & all 4 strokes can go an amazing amount of miles before they need bushings or any other replacement parts.

Agreed. But also, you don't want to be removing the primary clutch unless you HAVE to. 99% of all work can be done with the clutch installed. The only things that CAN'T be done with the clutch installed are replacement of either sheave, or the bushing in the sliding sheave.

The puller for the Viper will work just fine, it has the same primary clutch as your sled. Agreed 2, there is no need to remove the primary. Mine have only been out once, when I adjusted the belt to sheave clearance down to 0.025"
Reading you LB, there must be some with ya:
A) you hate to wear out your clutch puller
B) you freak out everytime you hear the POP
C) you really lazy
D) you, no problem, just for others to not get into troubles
E) some else...
I get the clutch out at seasons start myself mostly for few things:
-seems to me that a yearly pull, prevent the thing to stuck bad
-i separate it to re-shim tight... a,,, a G-120
-a... got to do some works/drinks in October on garage side

Some people like to take things apart just for the hell of it. They are usually the ones who have the most problems with their equipment.
If you don't NEED to take it apart, DON'T, because all you do is risk breaking something.
