Im not going to do much to my phazer in the way of mods was just going to do carbides, new freeride track and a clutch kit from Schmidt Bros, and re-valve my shocks.

would you do the clutch kit or track first?

I was thinking of doing one of them this winter, then the other the next season

X2 the clutching has proved huge on my MTX a real seat of the pants mod.

i'd do the track. then you can get the proper clutching setup later.
yes both are great improvements but its just my .02

Brad,

Where are you located ?

I did track & WOW what a difference!

Clutch was noticeable but nothing like the track especially in ditches & fields

I'd go the track route first..... 1 1/2" freeride ;)!

im in Winnipeg, so ditch riding from my house, up the rivers, trails.. and i might go up to the white shell park area from time to time.

not much base down right now.. but yeah this track spins lots.

I would also do track first. Not only helps for traction but keeps the tail from wagging when you let off gas at high speed.Does hurt a bit in corners though since its much harder to slide it.

Sounds just like here in Sask.

Get a 1.5" track you will not regret this

Lose a bit of top speed but gain huge fun factor.

The freeride is pricey but worth it. I got a 1.5" x 121" track for nothing and cut it down to 14" wide on a table saw. VERY EASY!! Track shows no signs of premature wear and hooks up big time.

Then when you clutch for it next year you will really like the set up. I am still likely going to gear down one tooth to improve acceleration. Hardly ever get to run flat out anyway. Only did that twice since I bought my sled.

I'm no expert but that makes sense.

Of course I'm doing the opposite, bought a new 1.5" Crossover track this year and haven't installed it yet but destroyed the secondary in the meantime and replaced it out of necessity with the reverse style from a '96 VMax 600. So I'll wait until the track is on now before I change any more variables like springs and helixes.

Finally got my 1.5" track installed and had a short ride. Quite pleased with the improved performance, that is, improved bite and better acceleration - the track is fully clipped as well, so that should also help with acceleration. Seems better in the snow - but haven't had a good test yet. I also found a wheel in my suspension that was very bad (almost stuck), so changing that no doubt helped her to move better. (I can't seem to change only one thing at a time LOL)! Now I would like to do something with my skis to make them turn better in the deeper snow - have a couple of ideas that I will be testing when time permits.

I installed a 1.5" Freeride and the Ulmer clutch kit this year. I put 50 miles on with the new track before the clutch kit. I'm very impressed with both changes, but I'd have to say that the track is the way to go first, then you can tune your clutch kit to the track.
