Running a Ulmers kit in the primary. I'm installing a TP orange secondary spring along with their 33/35 SW helix. Any recommendations on what adjustments I may need to do to the primary weights? I have Ulmers updated rollers in secondary since mile 1 and I had no belt issues 1200 plus miles. For now motor is totally stock. I also bought a set of the glide washers I have no experience with these what setup is best? I also an gonna try the orange secondary spring and throw some glide washers into my 2011 Apex SE with hopes of getting a little better low to mid range. Just waiting for snow here in Maine really itching to see how this setup works on the snow.

I also purchased a TP orange primary spring just to test out. Hopefully local drag strip at the lake will freeze up and be able to do a little testing. Will post results if all works out weather wise

I would set secondary at 60 degrees and try it before making any primary adjustments. You may not require any primary adjustment.

Thanks for the reply. Any advice with the glide washers? How many to use when to use or not too? Just curious about what the benefits really are besides what is claimed in the description thanks for any help

The glide washers are to minimize wear on the primary clutch spring surfaces. There are 2 glide washers that are coated (grey) and 3 that are plated (gold). The 2 coated ones are to go on each end of the primary spring so your clutch does not wear from the primary spring. Putting 2 shims in will raise your engagement like 100 rpms and the nice thing is you can add the other shims to raise engagement a little more if needed. All 5 shims will increase engagement about 300 rpms.

The orange secondary spring, install at 3-3 (60%) like DMC mentioned and go from there. Do 1 thing at a time and record your notes. That is the best advice I can give.

Are the shims supposed to be installed on the spring side or clutch side of the glide washers? If all 3 shims are used, should they all be used on the same end and which end, cover or spider? I have the parts ordered, why I wondered. Thank you!

I usually just split them between both ends of spring, but it really doesn’t matter as the pockets are plenty deep. Are the shims supposed to be installed on the spring side or clutch side of the glide washers? Ok thanks. If shims are used, which side of the glide washers are they to be installed? Against the spring or against the clutch?

ulmer uses STM supertips I think? my guess is looking at the tps orange you will have very low engagement....and not sure what type of running ...or your traction etc...but if you are looking for low to mid increases I think you'll want higher engagement with a spring with more preload...a little more engagement with good traction will give you a snappier feel off the line..albeit with less deep snow driveability
just sayin
