Clutching guys I need a hand

I went for the first rip on the machine and my clutchs were so hot that it took half an hour for them to cool off. The belt is slipping very bad, On the trails i would put 8800 and shift dfown to 85-8600 In the snow i would hit 8200 and shift down to 78-8000rmp
Settings
23/40 gearing
primary
yellow/silver/yellow, 8buw/ 3.6 steel weightin base hole,14.5 rollers
Secondary
team roller red spring blk mark, helix at 57/54 and the floating pin has been installed

Do you think i should put a stiffer secondary spring in and gear the machine down to 22/40?
You will see in my profile the mods that have been done to this little guy
All help is very welcome!

I have had the night to think it over... The plan is to go with stiffer primary and secondary spring and see what happens...

Try sws yamaha primary, and red/blue teams secondary, go with stock gearing you won't be sorry. What are the specs for teams red/black 2ry spring?

That gearing sounds a little to high, might be the cause of heat.

So you have the 3.6 at the hole by the pin ..I think that's too much

I will check my paper in the morning to see what I have down..I am running the red/black in my team but I now my helix is lower

I will get back tomorrow with what I have

Take an infrared thermometer with you....make a run and see which clutch is hotter. I am new to Yamaha, but not clutching....my gut says too much secondary helix angle and the secondary is generating the heat. You are on the right track with a stiffer secondary spring, but you may stall your upshift. A flatter helix is more efficient.

I will be gearing back down to 22/40 in the morning and stepping up one spring rate in the yamaha primary and up too 140/260 on the team secondary
try agan this weekend and go out with a temp gauge (thanks for the idea!) super simple solution
