Here is the story.... Myself and one of my co-workers have been setting up two sleds for agressive riding and drags and i need help to win in a drag......
mine 2008 rtx 121
mods:
inatke, pc3, race track, plugs, can, lightweight seat, no electrical(headlights tailighs ect) , menztoys screen kit for headlight for better flow
Clutching:
8bu weight, no rivets, 14.5 mm rollers and a pink silver pink spring
secondary has the white spring at 80 degrees, 41 degree helix(thinkin about a 39 degree?)
gearing:
20/39 machine does 145 on a trail on the dream-o-meter
his 2009 rtx se
mods:
intake, header, excell mid pipe, same can, pc5, race track all stock plastics
clutching:
all stock clutching minus taking out one weight off the tip
gearing:
21/39
this machine winds out at 140-150
BOTH:
Our machines both pull all the way to 9100 rpm and dont hit the limiter,
we have been runnign these machines quite a bit side by side and with all the mods I have done it still boils down the who gets the holeshot.... he doesnt seem to be able to pull away from me and i cant pull away from him...... I just need ideas on how the rtx se can run beside mine after i have put more agressive weights and helixs on and run Alot less weight on the machine maybe 25lbs and i weight maybe 15lbs geared up less than him...
Thnks guys!

In a drag race on snow you want to be coming out of the gate at about 8200 rpm,s & slowly climbing.
I had stock clutching working very very well in my nytro with minimal tweaks.

I engauge at 43-4500 rpm and he starts at about 44-4600 the rtx se has a preload rate of 45 i think and the 08 rtx has preload of 35

Engagement is a minor part of the equation unless your spinning. Like i said...you want rpm,s starting out at 8200 & climbing for a race on snow!!!!!!

What should the rpm be pulling if its a pure ice race?

Slightly higher for starting rpm,s, but you can raise engagement a lot more for racing.

TURK hahah just the guy i was hopeing would chim in and help!
I was kinda thinkin about bumping it up to a 40 preload and I think that would take my rpm to 46-4700 anything after than i worry that i will just have alot of belt slip ....I did try a 45 preload and i would engauge at 50-5200 rpm and that seemed kinda high
