Ok I know several people have ran the Cobra track now that is has been out for a couple years. I did run one for awhile (121") on my Viper but have since been using an Ice Ripper. My question lies in the two different styles they were offered in. One (which I had) that is clipped like every other window and the fully clipped version. They claim the not fully clipped version is 32 lbs. What does a fully clipped model weigh in 121"? Also has anyone tried both? I was wondering about any thoughts between them. Better hyfax wear, top end, ratcheting etc...........

I actually liked mine alot for riding in the UP of Michigan where they get alot of sugar lake effect snow. It really hooked well on loose snow trails. I did notice a loss on top end though compared to a Predator I ran before that(maybe could have geared down a tooth). Currently I have the ice ripper 1.25" lug (121"). Everyone said how great this track is and for me I haven't been that impressed. It doesn't do near as well in the type of trails I mentioned and I didn't even notice much in icy conditions. I did get to take a 2006 Apex GT short track for a spin last year in the UP that had a new Cobra on it. I thought it was a nice improvement over the ripsaw but I never looked to see if it was fully clipped or not.

any thoughts are appreciated......thanks

Wow, it apparently gains 5 lbs. when fully clipped. That would mean even more top end loss on a 2 stroke....maybe not as much on the 4 stroke. I assume they did this for hyfax wear issues.

Clips wont add that much there is a disparity in the numbers. On most older tracks I have a seen full clip add about 2-3lbs.

I got the weights from 2 different track websites.
I have a 121" Fully clipped 1 1/4 " Predator, it weighs 39 lbs, also a 121" 1 1/4" fully clipped RipSaw, it weighs 39lbs also.

But you have to admit that's kind of a stretch? Doesn't sound right to me either. I'm betting on some number's being rounded off somewhere.

Bottom line, for most trail riders not running extros, I don't think the difference amounts to a hill of beans one way or the other. Somebody racing looking for that last 1% maybe, or somebody running extros would likely go fully clipped.

BTW Nick, you have that new avatar worked up yet? Wow...

I never noticed any difference switching drivers, tracks, large rear wheels, suspensions, etc all the top speed was around the same mph within a couple and I think that is just conditions.

Is she deluxe or what .....LOL

I did notice a speed difference from my stock track (.92") to a predator (1.25") then a gain later with the Cobra (1.352") but it only makes sense being I kept increasing the lug height. My top end slightly increased again when I changed the Cobra for an Ice Ripper (1.25").........just physics I guess.
