hey fellas-wondering whats a code 81-started up my sled the other day and it flashed a code 81-dealer is bout as helpful as a sharp stick in the eye-anybody have any info?

I may have that in my Tech book. I can take a look tonight if no one else gets to it before me...

Look in the owner's manual.

That is for the fuel sender. Unplug the connector and use an ohm meter to check it. Make sure you check the sender side and not the harness side. Its only a two wire connector just just zero your meter and put one lead to each wire. With a full tank you should see 4-10 ohms. Empty tank reads 90-100 ohms. Good luck......It might just be a poor connection too, check for a loose fit and make sure there is no corrosion in there. ===SRXSRULE===

Most volt meters have an ohm setting on them. Ohms is the unit of measure for resistance. ===SRXSRULE===

I think there is a little mistake here... propably different between RX and Rs serie

I have the shop manual for my RsVenture which is the same for the Rage an the 81 Code is for the grip warner disconnected or short-circuit ...

For the fuel sender on the Rs serie, the warning light, fuel meter and fuel level warning indicator will flash with no code on the display

The resistance for the grip warner is very low and should be between 1,53 and 1,87 ohm on each side . Search for a disconnected harness, corosion or an open circuit on a grip warner.

Good luck

Alain

Hey pimp, do you use an electric face shield? If you hook it up to the wrong circuit, the change in resistance is often enough to produce an error code. Connect the face shield to the headlight circuit (if you use one.)

CODE 81 = your sled is trying to communicate with you, it is saying "PLEASE TAKE ALL OF THE UGLY ORANGE ACCESORIES OFF OF ME!" LOL

towing.....you are correct. I am looking in my 04 rx manual, figured they would be the same but must not be. Thanks ===SRXSRULE===
