I'm looking at buying a new mtx one comes with coil overs on the front and the other has fox float 3s. Is there a difference between them? Is one better than the other?

I prefer coil overs all day. Typically preform better and if you every blow out an air shock you have nothing, blow out a coil shock you still have the spring to hold the sled up. I know a lot of guys that switch from air to coils. Also that’s the main reason I went with a btx le over an mtx 153 le last year when I ordered my sled.

My boy Mitch points out my biggest fear of Air Shocks especially on the trails.
Mountain guys love the air shocks because they are lighter & very simple. Put air in, take air out, that's it.
Some have made them work very good, but trail guys like more adjustability & then there is always the worst case scenario of blowing a seal & you are dead in the water.

I have the float 3's on my M8000, They worked very well last year and they are very easy to adjust. I only ride trails to where ever the POW is so I couldn't comment much on the trail side of things but for off trail they worked great. I do think though that I would take coils for trail riding over the air shocks. Each has its place.
