Searched and found very little about this problem. Dealer says they can't find it but this is how it acted.
"temp was bouncing from 39 to 160 back and forth and the low temp light was flashing."
Got this quote from another thread here. Anyone have any ideas why this happens? It's intermittent, I rode over 300 miles back to my truck it did it some times and others not. Stop shut motor off restart and it would be fine again.
Thanks in advance for any ideas.

Must be a bad sensor or wiring. Dealer could not make it do it I assume?

Correct could not make it happen. They claim they checked sensor and it was OK, can they check sensors? They also said there were no codes. Frustrating.

Havent heard of issues but could have been a airpocket. Only sensor I ever had go was oil pressure on Phazer. That was erratic and when tested was fine. Finally it failed fully and was replaced. Problem solved. Might be what's going on with yours.

This happened to my brother's Viper on the Manitoba ride. The motor is warm/hot but the cold alarm comes up and the motor goes to safe mode for a second or two. It's a bad sensor. The dealer replaced it under warranty and problem solved.

Yep. I had a bad sensor. When I checked its resistance, the temp was off by 20 deg F. So technically the sensor would function, but it's calibration was off. And when on the trail it would act exactly as you described. Replace the sensor. This happened to my brother's Viper on the Manitoba ride. My 14 has done that several times. I did not get it back from Allen this year to ride it so not sure but it would flash 40's then 180's then go into limo mode at wide open throttle. shut it down let it sit then fire it up and ride the rest of the day. I checked the wiring and the sensor itself and all showed good. I believe it is in the ECU but everyone else says no but why then would it go away?

Mine was flakey and random. Did it one day, then nothing the next. Once I found the sensor resistance was 20 deg off, I didn't chance it and changed the sensor. If the sensor fails completely, it fails to a high resistance. With a high resistance, the ECU will think the engine is cold like it was just started. Therefore it limits RPM to just below engagement. That means you are stuck and can't move the sled.My 14 has done that several times. I just had a similar issue with my aftermarket temp sensor on my Apex the last few rides. It was jumping up and down every second. I noticed that the ground wire to the T adaptor broke. Perhaps take a look to see if all your ground wires are secure and unbroken.

Just back from a late season tour from Riviere de Loup thru the Gaspésie down to New Brunswick, Moose Valley Lodge, to be specific. 6 days and 1320 miles.
I want to report that it must have been the sensor as I had no recurrence of the problem. I would like to thank all that lend help that my dealer was unable or unqualified to.
Have enjoyed this sled, purchased 3/12/15 new and it now has 6,657 miles.
