Hi everyone, just want to hear some past experiences . Had to do a section of road, was only going 20-40 km/hr. Wasn't looking at my temp gage, then noticed the sled cutting out and the temp light flashing,...lack of snow on heat exchanger, Shut the sled off and removed side panels to let it cool down, started it back up 5 minutes after, temp had gone down and light stopped flashing, ran some fresh powder and temp came back to normal, any idea of there could be engine damage due to the overheat? Tx all

No. It will go into limp mode if it gets hot. You did the right thing by shutting it down to cool off. You’re fine

The antifreeze mixture is more than 50/50 from factory. Remove around 750ml from sled add some water wetter ( comparable product ) & distilled water . Makes a big difference in temps running sled in low snow conditions

Also if you can sometimes get speeds(rpms) up abit more, it can help keep temps in check if there is some snow for cooling. Running that slow, at even throttle speeds just does not circulate coolant fast enough. But if you cannot get that temp down then stopping is safest.

Tried better coolant, and snow flap extension. Never seemed to do anything. The winders are a bit more sensitive to snow conditions. Mine runs hot early morning on hard packed trails. Next season I might do scratchers that go into ski bolts and drop them early cold hard packed trails. I always have to slow down and dip into loose snow and temps drop 10-15 almost instantly. Mine runs 168-170 in loose snow. It’s those hard packed mornings that suck

All the sleds without radiators on our club ride this weekend had issues constantly. Was actually just to cold. Skids and tunnels had absolutely no snow sticking. Solution was to go faster. Once everyone got into the check sled behind is still there and then go thing at stops speeds picked up no more issues. 35-40mph was the magic number to be above. Hard to do with 15 machines in group!Tried better coolant, and snow flap extension. Never seemed to do anything. The winders are a bit more sensitive to snow conditions.
