I have a 2012 RS Vector LTX and last week on my first ride I found the sled to be a little on the cool side. The wind coming off the shield would wrap around and hit me in the upper arms and shoulders. The air temperature wasn't that cold either, it was in the 20"s and lower 30"s. What have others found with there sleds? Has anyone added a larger windshield and if so what size did you go with. I see Yamaha has a Mega Tall/Wide (18 3/4" T x 34"W). Has anyone ever used this one before? This might be too big, just looking for feedback/input.

I'm also considering adding a riser to aid in stand up maneuvering. Has any one added one to their Vector and how much did you increase the height by?

When I switched from my "hide behind the windsheild" Viper to my "out in the air" Attak I found the need to upgrade my riding gear to help fight all that cold air. Even with the upgraded suit I still find myself wearing an extra layer on the cold days.

I ride Canada all the time, with the tall windshield from yamaha. I now have an '11 Vector LTX GT. Installed tall wshield right out of the box. No problems at all.

that windshield is for a DB1 chassis. your 2012 is a DB2. it wont fit. their might be one for a DB2 . maybe you just used the wrong link. i need to look now because i want that shield if its avail.

apexhank,

Do you have a part number for the one that you used? Do you remember the size?

They have these listed in their accessory catalog. I'm not sure what the standard one is for the Vector.

Tall - 15.5"
Extra Tall - 17.5"
Extra Extra Tall - 18.75"

Thanks

Chester

Sorry I don't have the part number, but it is the 17 1/2 with the support bars that mount to the tank cover , and the windshield . Your Yamaha dealer should know the part number. Wind will deflect away from you nicely and protect your face also. I wear a bombardier modular 2 helmet for the past 13 years without a heated shield. Since my 03 RX 1 and my 06 Apex and now 11 Vector LTX GT I have used this windshield without a problem.

love that sled ,next one on my list , I have a RS venture that comes with the tall windshield , its tall and dorky but does a great job , I can ride 100 KPH with my visor up and no wind in my eyes , we ride the cold alot here in Ont so I like it , it has the 2 supports at the back , all my buddys with there Doos ride bent down behind there shields for the first couple of hrs in the mornings , I wonder if my Gt winshield is the taller one for a vector , would be nice if Yammie made them a quick change unit that could be switched quickly for the different temps

I use to have a Doo and the windshields were easy to switch between the different styles. thanks for your input on the different heights.
