I've been considering buying a Phazer, but I'm stuck between the FX and Regular Phazer. The only differences I see is the suspension (shocks).
The FX has piggyback and clicker adjustments and the standard are throw aways. My problem is I'm 220lbs. dressed and I do believe the FX suspension will be to soft for me from the factory. I'm considering the standard and change out the shocks for something better then the FX has and have them built for me.
Does anybody have an opinion on this matter? I know some of you have done extensive research for aftermarket parts on the Phazer and I'm sure you've come across the info I need.
Thanks

I am in the same boat as you. 225 without gear. I did get a chance to test ride the GT and only got it go bottom once going through some pretty rough trail sections. The front shocks were beat, but it still rode surprisingly well. The rear springs were set stiff, but I don't know where the shock adjustment was.
As for which one to buy, the differences are the shocks, and the FX has a small windshield and reverse also. My 'plan' is to purchase a standard. I don't feel I need reverse so that's a little less weight there. The front shocks are the same length as the apex/vectors (according to the yamaha reps) so I will be more than likely putting a set of floats on the front. The rear would get an ohlins, or even the yammi clicker.

The differences between the Phazer & Phazer FX are:
PZ FX has -
Rear shocks are HPG & front shocks are GYTR clickers
Shortly windshield & hand deflectors
handlebar hooks
Reverse
Thant's what I heard!!

Doesn't appear to be a sway bar on the regular one.

The phazer FX i would say might be the better bet. either that or will till floats come out for it, buy a base model, but you will lose reverse... and throw floats on.
or just get a FX and sell the factory shocks off it. you know a ton of riders will want to buy sets to put on GT's. someone will for sure.
the Phazer FX shocks are way better shocks to work with(revalved and mod), plus it will be set up to ride stiffer not softer then a GT in stock trim anyways.
if i was you i'd buy the FX set it stiff and ride. if not get them sent out and revalved. simple as that. or just swap um for floats.
225 isnt all that heavy anyways. i weigh 180 the sled did fine, i rode it hard.
