2013 Nytro XTX
I rode yamaha in the late 90's when the sx chasis came out. The sleds were always rock solid reliable but were not always the quickest bone stock. I have been riding skidoo he past ten years, but i am set on trying a yamaha 4stroke for the 2014 season. I am serisously considering the 2013 nytro. I heard they fixed the darting and handling ussues on these. Just looking on some input on what i should be prepared for. Also im coming off of an e tec 800 and want to be able to run with or be quicker than that. Im not sure if i want to drop 4k on a supercharger so i was wondering if there is a trail reliable mild boost turbo out there for these? I also see for 2014 they are going to be running the nytro powerplant in the cat chasis. Im i still better off with a Nytro? I want the rider foreward ergonomics like my xp. Thank you.

i do not have much time in on nitros but have demoed a viper. if going new, go viper. really comfortable chassis and the handling was superb.

any idea what the weight difference is between the new viper and the nytro? Its hard to find infromation seems like all the manufacuters try to hide the weights of their four strokes. and i would think the viper would handle good its a proven chasis. The deals on the left over 2013's are just pretty crazy right now. Im out of the yamaha loop but i found a brand new black nytro RTX for 8500 im guessing thats a sweet deal?

im just scared to make the leap and am trying to get as much information as possible. The local dealer told me that it is most definitely a different kind of ride.

I am not at all interested in an apex or a vector. I here they are awesome trial crusiers and will haul on the lake but through the woods probably not what im looking for. I looking at the nytro because it is the only one that may come close to the "flickability" of an xp and big bump capability. the rider foreward stand up postioning is what im looking for, and as light as possible. I undersand the three cylinder nytro and the new viper are lower on power. Thats why im thinking a nytro with a mild turbo. and why im wondering if there is a reliable turbo for these? im sure i could search the web and find all kinds of junk, but im thinking alot of people on here have tried some set ups. thanks for the responses. More input the better! I know these things are reliable but i dont want to give up everything else.thanks again

I just saw an ad for something like that......called Yamacharger......Ulmer Racing maybe? Either that or Excell Motorsports.......don't have time to look it up..........2 lbs. boost......claim 20 hp.......2300$.......good luck

Would definitely give 141 Viper a close look if I were you......

Im not really looking for a 141 i want a shorty. seems to me i just need to find someone with a new nytro and ride it. The link earlier in this thread was talking about a 2009 nytro and yes i hear those handle terribe, but ive heard the 2013 nytro with the new skis and geometry does good. Also like i said before the prices ive been finding on 2013's are crazy. i think in the fall an RTX goes for 11500 ive found a couple for 8500 now. Im assuming the viper will be a $12000 sled.

You're not going to be happy with the handling of a Nytro after riding a Ski-doo XP.

Check out the FX Nytro forum just below the General forum.

IMO its the VIPER of nothing for you. You won't be happy on the Nytro. You will be happier on the VIPER.

The 13 Nytro will definitely handle better than previous ones but I'm afraid you'll be somewhat disappointed.......it'll be down on power(20 or so hp) from the 800 ETEC and it's a good bit heavier.......no "flicking" them around........

I'm saying this and I'm a Yamaha guy through and through.......

Why do the 13's handle better than the 09's just because the tuner skis.....my 09 handles the same as a 13 really nothing has changed but skis...so if you want a nytro get a used one just stay away from the 08's

I wouldnt call them unreliable and its not just ski doo. I went on a trip a few weeks back everyone in my group has near;y brand new high hp two strokes. We all agree they ride and handle awesome with the xp being the best handling by far. The only problem was during this trip every sled has some kind of issue. Polaris pro r 800, new cat 800, and me with an 800 e tec. Throughout this trip all of us were shut down at some point or put in limp mode. The cat overheated puked all the anitfreeeze and im pretty sure he has some more serious issues going on there. The Polaris was in some type of limp mode the thing would cut out at 80mph, and the e tec the engine light was on because it has a sensor for every damn thing. These things rip but they are super touchy it seems. ive been thinking yamaha bcause as little as we get to ride i want my sled to run no matter what the conidtions and not have to worry about it.

In reading the above, I think the only sled that Yamaha makes that will suit your needs would be a 2014 Nytro snowchecked with the $1500 Yamaha approved supercharger kit. You may not have quite the exellent handling of your Doo but the new ones handle great in my opinion. You'll have crazy horsepower at an affordable price with the rider forward position you want and the big bump capability you also crave. Just my thoughts.....

Yes the Viper is cool, but sticking with what you mentioned you wanted, the above is your best option. :4STroke:
