2014 XF7000 My coolant fan is not turning on. Does the coolant temperature sensor govern both the gauge and fan? Gauge works fine, but fan does not turn on.

Fan worked before leaving last week. But seemed to come on late at 200 degrees. Now it does not come on at all. Had to really watch it on our 3 day trip to Tofte MN. Great riding, but could not idle with out it rapidly spiking into the red.

I just went through this with mine and the fan came unplugged somehow. Not sure if it wasn't plugged in all the way and it vibrated loose or what the problem was.

My fan on my 2014 Viper xtx-se stopped working my last trip, kept blowing the fuese. Hooked up a jumper wire to find out that my fan is shot, was smoking and pulling 45amps

I'll double check the connector. Don't know why I didn't look the first time. Fuse is good. At least the hoods isn't that tough to remove.

My fan fried also. proly from all the water run through it from snow dust. I just removed it and dont let it idle for long periods. will probably replace it. but hasent been an issue even on warm days.

Conditions play a huge role. Last week, in Tofte Minnesota while up on the hill, everything was cool as a cucumber. Coolant 165-175 degrees. Could stop, take a picture, chat briefly, and continue. Temperature would rise a little, but quickly drop when moving again.

Coming back to the motel, by the lake, things were a different story. On the crispy trail, I could watch the temperature climb, while moving, to 180-190. Cross the parking lot, and road to gas station, and we're topping 200 degrees really fast. Temperature light was on, once, after fill up and in surge mode. Had to shoot across to a snowbank, and keep rolling, to reduce temperature below the red. Pretty scary for a brand new sled.

I wish the fan would run, a little, when the sled is turned off. All that hot air, trapped under the hood, can't be good. Maybe the fan will run, if sled is turned off, and then turned back to the run position? Would only take a minute, or two, to circulated some cooler air through the engine compartment. For me, I want, and need the fan to work.

The fan does come back on if you turn your key back to run on a viper

Fan fuse was blown. Relay checks out. My un-scientific fan test shows it pulling some pretty good amps. I connected the fan, to a spare battery, with the same gauge wire that's in the harness. Fan spins, but wires get pretty hot. I replaced the fuse, being in denial,;) and brought coolant up to where the fan tries to turn on. Not sure what temperature it should turn on, but mine switches between 190-200 degrees. Saw headlight flicker and knew the fuse had blown again. Looks like some warranty work for a new fan.
