I bought a used 07 venture with 360 miles on it. My top speed is 92MPH is the normal?
Sometimes it is hard to shift into reverse, I have to give it a bit of throttle to move the machine forward an inch or 2 and then it will engage. Is this normal? 80% of the time it will shift fine.

Yes & yes.
The 3 cyls are torque monsters, not topend speed freaks.
Very normal to have to blip the throttle every once in awhile to get the reverse engaged.
I think what happens somethimes is, there is pressure on the chain & gears depending on how the machine came to rest, thus the need to blip the throttle & make the machine move some to relieve the pressure.

If the chain tension is too tight it will be harder to shift
Too loose though and it will wear too quickly
