I was going to adjust my transfer rod and noticed a crack (where it is bolted in front). It is on the right side of the bracket. I welded the left side last year, still good. I know I have to fix it BUT I will be riding it. So I was wondering which is the lesser of two evils: Leave it as is OR take it out? I will be riding all weekend.

i would remove it now.
why take the chance with it shearing off.
if it is on the front end of the suspension it could possibly jam into the track as the track is spinning and it could possibly destroy your track.
if it was me. i wouldnt take the chance

If you take it out, be careful to avoid a tail landing as the rear wheels will now be able to touch your rear radiator as well as tunnel extension...

i never heard this before.
i have read of a lot of guys doing this and the only negative i have heard is that the sled wants to pull wheelies all day long.
i can live with the wheelie problem as long as i could continue to ride, but if the skid wheels can actually hit the heat exchangers i think i want to take back my first answer and say leave it in and ride real gentle.

I had this happen in my 2006 Attak with standard rear wheels but Intense 1.5" track and accessory rear heat exchanger (not standard in 2006). A bad tail landing in a G-out resulted in clear lug contact marks under the rear heat exchanger and coolant spraying all over the rear of the sled...Apart from this, suspension became super soft. And yes - it pulled wheelies like there was no tomorrow...

I had to cut my riding in half, nothing damaged, but I just couldn't drive it like I wanted. I was worried it would break and end my year. I am getting it welded this week. Can I remove the control rod ( for good)and be safe or should I leave it and just hope it doesn't crack again?
