I finally tried them out. 8 inch carbide shaper bars with the leading edge. No darting or tracking. Little more steering effort then I hoped for but still much less then the Simmons.

I did not shim them at all but I don't think they need it unless shimming them would reduce the steering effort in anyway.

I ran back over my tracks on the return trip and could not even feel them at all. Could not find anything to make them track in old tracks.

My Simmons did not track for the most part till I either tried to run in an old set of my tracks or the older Doo ski tracks. As I travel with a couple of Doos with the old pre Pilot ski's I would curse them when behind them and them me when I was out in front.

The Curves seem really nuetral on the trail as far as tracking goes and don't seem to push at all even in loose snow conditions. The Simmons pushed in loose snow but floated better then the Curves I think!

I likey so far!

how do you have your alignment ? leading edge is a big improvement.
also when backing out a trailer edge will hook bad.

I'm sure you can get them to steer easier with some suspension adjustments. You might render the "Leading Edge" useless by shimming the skis.

Yeah- just checked my carbides. Always seem to catch on the trailer or railroad tracks, I need to pull up on the bars every time with the curves and shapers. Finally took them to the bench grinder to round off any edges. Also noticed the front edge(carbide) wearing quicker on the XTX so I shimmed them on the front side to even the wear, will find out this weekend. Been darting around bad-so I reset my toe out and shimmed the skies so we will see. Maybe try the trackers before I ditch these things for some Pilots. :o|

Great to hear Sasquatch! The LE and a round bar is a great combination for the Yamaha platforms. You would realize some reduced steering effort by trying a 6" round next time you replace your carbides.

4strknytro, I have some insight regarding your difficulty. First, shapers, Nytro's and Curve XS skis are not a good combination for every day trail riding. I would HIGHLY recommend swapping to a 6" round for an XTX and 4" round for a short track during your next carbide change. The LE is also a great option.

Second, I recommend you check your front end for slop. Jack the front of the sled off the floor and wiggle the spindle and arms around. If you see any lateral, camber or caster slop, replace the parts. Pay particular attention to the upper and lower arm bushings along with the lower and upper spherical bearings. These are notorious for living short lives. Replace with aftermarket parts where possible, not OEM.

Third, how are you checking your toe? Have you seen the instructions on our forum?

Lastly, when do notice the darting? Under deceleration? Certain conditions? The Nytro chassis gives many of our customers a hard time until these problems are addressed. Without a doubt, you will not find a more versatile and lighter steering package than our skis on a properly setup Nytro. If you can take the time to work out the bugs, you'll be grinning from ear to ear in short order ;)!

Ya I kinda figured the shaper might add to the effort a bit. When I wear the shaper out I will try a round bar with maybe less carbide. With 162 studs I was afraid of going with not enough carbide!

Was out again today and could not find anything they will follow. My day old tracks froze hard into the trail disappear I can cross back and forth across them without feeling them at all. Most fun is trying to stay in the old tracks. Way to hard to do! The old ski tracks just are not there as far as the skis are concerned.

Kind of amazing really! Good job Curve!
