The adaptor or the whole unit?40TH FX NYTRO said:Looking for a DC outlet for my 08 FX NYTRO RTX but I don't really want to pay the $75.00 for one from yamaha.

Royal sells the adaptors and I am sure a local communications or the like type store/shop should have the outlets?

If you take a look in the "umbrella" behind the headlight you will find a white connector with 6 red wires and a jumper connecting these wires. That connector will provide you +12V when the ignition is on. You can use that, and a wire from your battery to install a relay with power to whatever you want.

I know that artic cat has one that you can get for $12.00. The only drawback is that you will have to hard wire it. I think that the yamaha one will have a harness that you can just plug in, which would be nice. I also know that the yamaha one will be of better quality.

The 08's don't have a plug. It has to be hard wired.

I just installed one on my 08. I found a used OEM outlet on ebay and wired it into the fuse box. I cut the connector off and replaced it with a two wire connector that I picked up at Radio Shack. The fuse box has a empty location that has power on one side when the key is on but needs a insert added to the other side to except a mini fuse. I found inserts at a local auto parts store but had to file a little bit off to make it fit into the box. It's a little more work doing it this way but it's done properly.
