dealer installed supercharger next year, CR's sledblog

I am also curious about the mods but that does not change the fact that the Yamcharger obviously works!

Regardless of the mods or the actual hp #'s, it was the same sled on the same dyno and the Yamcharger created a 20 hp gain.

I do however still find it hard to understand why they wouldn't have used a stock Apex for the demonstration.

This test is not sponsored or done by G-FORCE, its a guy out of the blue (Motopro) that decided to hook his sled up to a DYNO and test it, at the end he thanks Gilles from G-FORCE for the great work in devloping the system.

So you are saying that this guy bought the Yamcharger from G-force and made this testing video all on his own with no involvement from G-force?

I find that hard to believe. If this is true, then I hope that G-force can see the value of doing a video of a stock Apex before and after on a dyno like this. This type of proof is what will sell these things.

I should have more info on the APEX set-up shortly that was used for testing...its BUGGING me to see that much HP without any S/C or NOS...right off the bat its got 20hp plus over stock! I'd be happy with just 20hp...but how much $$$

its no biggie really....it was said at the beginning it was a low boost 2psi blower....in the boosted world each lb of boost brings approx 10HP give or take.

Im not surprised at all that this setup works.....i think Gforce most likely designed and built this setup specifically for the average rider who wants more power but doesnt want all the problems 6 or more psi can bring.

with a MPI SC at 6psi,you get about 50hp add.....but you also need an intercooler,a fuel controller,a blow off valve. and gauges to keep an eye on things.

Im sure Gforce knows alot more about the boosted world then most of us,and im sure they met their criteria with this simple, low boost system that doesnt need all the extras due to its lower boost.

i did notice they had to spin the PTO up to 8600rpms to get the additional 20hp....while the original setup was spinning 8200 rpms.....i think his aftermarket exhaust is where hes getting the extra HP from stock...I did not see a Pc3 or ign module though on his sled. Too bad this guy is not a member on TY!

for me,20 HP isnt alot, since i know ive got about 10-12HP already gained from my ramair and pc3/ign module.....so this is alot of cash for only 8 more then im at now.

if this thing were to run 122-125 on radar consistantly, then i would be interested!

a yamcharger was ran on a dyno here in quebec this week...
170hp stock( i thought apexs were 150hp)?
192 hp with yamcharger

heres a video(sorry its in french)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H2fCg-cgJ44

thats because theyre showing you METRIC horsepower. :jump:
Eh, metric horsepower is called kW's and every kW is bigger than a HP, so it goes the other way... 150 hp = 112 kW.

You know, this thing is SO SIMPLE, that if it works, there are bound to be a bunch of knockoffs around VERY SOON. Hell, there could be (probably will be) knockoffs even if it ISN'T for real ;)

If there are no knockoffs, then it *definitely* is NOT for real.

My view on this;
Unlike the snake-oil automotive "electric blower", being on the crank and spinning up at 10000 rpm, it certainly has the potential to pump some a good amount of air. Seems reasonable, probably *does* work, would be nice to see some legit numbers for it though.

Wonder what it would do on a phazer at 12k?

that was ment as a joke. i wasnt being serious about metric hp ;)!

Simple..

The kit yamaha should of already built. It works, how cant it? My piss ant Mitsubishi turbo in the crappy old turbo dodge, which is smaller than that thing AND runs of exhaust is almost always making boost and you notice 2lbs of boost. If they change geometry of the turbo vanes it could make 3-4 easily, what they show is pretty rough cut, 5 axis machine prototype((??)).....As someone said knockoffs are on the way, and probably higher boost too. It it performs as they say Id buy, or at least when the dollar is higher :)

Just remember 10,000 RPM is only a fraction of what a Turbo spin's from exhaust gases, Thats why the Yamcharger need's to be the diameter it is just to make 2 psi. It is also interesting that Yamaha has a screw in plug in the Mag cover almost as if Yamaha was saying here it is come and get it. Unless it has some other purpose that i am unaware of. kviper

Hmmm

^^ True enough.....I visited the gforce web site, sure is a clean looking setup, lets hope it achieves that 2lbs ((20hp)).

I think it will, I talked to Gilles for a quite a while on it, They seem to know what they are doing. I hope to be at the install and Dynoing with Jeff Simon (CPR) next week. I went to there web site and printed out the instruction's to study, It Looks good and gives you a better feeling of where the cost comes from. kviper
