Does everyone have trouble getting stuff done. it seems like it takes forever for something to get setteled.I own a venture lite, from reverse problems rust problems on my racks in like two months. ice buildup in the tunnel and thats only my problems. What is everyone else doing, yamaha knows about these problems and in my opinion are doing nothing about it.These sleds are not cheap, why can't the put a manual leaver for reverse (fixed) rust is better quality controll,The ice buildup i don't have a clue on that one,i figured a pipe out through the back end but!!!!!!.I don't know but if sverybody who owns a venture lite calls the head office, would something get done????????? well i don't think these sleds were put through proper testing befor going to market. Before i bought mine i asked sales and service was there any problems with these sleds all said NO not a problem, what a creditable bunch.well im vented thanks

I guess Yamaha's are just terrible machines. So many MAJOR problems. Sounds like a ski-doo would be a better machine for you. Instead of rusted racks, tunnel buildup and a finicky reverse button you only have one problem to deal with that ski-doo does nothing about. The motor blows up.

Yes there are problems. Unfortunately, there is no perfect snowmobile out there. They all have their issues , generally unique to that machine or brand. Yes they are expensive, however, nobody really needs a sled, they are a luxury item so they hose us when it comes to cost, and soon I think they are going to price themselves and us out of the sport. To fight back a little, you need to get to know your sled, and be able to do most repairs yourself especially during the season. After the snow, take it in and have them fix any issues under the warranty if you have one. You will hear stories like yours from all the brands, it's not unique to Yamaha. Like the others have said, these are minor issues in terms of sledding, so chill out, go sledding and enjoy the ride!

That's quite a first post. Rather than venting, lets talk about possible solutions. For the rack, you need to go to your dealer and have them take care of it. That is how it works with Yamaha. Dealers report problems and Yamaha monitors the field reports to determine if they have genuine problem that needs to be addressed.cecil65 said:Does everyone have trouble getting stuff done. it seems like it takes forever for something to get setteled.I own a venture lite, from reverse problems rust problems on my racks in like two months. ice buildup in the tunnel and thats only my problems. Regarding ice build-up in the tunnel, very common. Some guys are spraying silicon in their tunnels to prevent ice from building up.

this is my first new sled, around here yamaha is known as the rich mans sled. so when i purchased this one i expected top quality not a sled that has these problems. I think this sled is awesome and i love the ride.I am a sit back and enjoy the ride and the view of the country side. I could have purchased a 570 cat,or an bombardier 550 fan but i wanted a 4stroke, because i though and think it is the future in sledding.I just hope that yamaha will step up and fix the problems with this sled. I am trying to work with the dealer and keeping my cool because u get more with sugar than salt.i would like everyone who owns a venture lite to call their head office, in canada its in toronto.call scott there and ask him what they are doing to solve these problems.i did not put his last name or PH # here i did not think it was right to do so. wow what a post.
thanks

rusted racks and snow build up are not problems - you might think so, but there are external forces beyond yamaha's control causing these.
the reverse is a common problem some have and some don't - my 07 was never right, but if you sat on it pushed the button and then made a forward motion with your body it would kick in - my 09 is a little better but with age is getting the same - same motion get's it in gear every time.

I think you are asking a lot. Ice build up and rusted racks are not Yamaha's issue. Ice build up is a nature of 4 strokes and how the exhaust is routed. Snow melts when it hit the muffler then drips and freezes. My grizzly has racks that are rusting, heck even a frame that is rusting. Dont think Yamaha will do anything about it cause steel rusts when exposed to water, oxygen and salt. Do any towing on the roads? Go to crappy tire and buy some spray on liner in a can. It is rubber like and will seal it up and only have to reapply after it wears off. lasts much longer then the paint.
As far as the reverse issue, that is yamaha's issue. Talk to your dealer about getting it fixed. Dont waste your time and his time arguing about ice build up and your racks. You will just look like that guy that complains about anything and the dealer will be less likely to work with you.
I knew of a guy that bought a rhino, scratched the hood and expected the dealer to fix it. What would you think if someone walked into your dealership with this problem? They bought an off road vehicle, keep in mind.

so every 4stroke has problems with ice buildup, i think not. Its a design flaw and should be fixed. purchased this sled dec 22/07 and rust feb 08 come on???? i got a 89 moto4 with less rust for christ sake.so what if your bumpers on your car or truck had rust in two to three months,so u would not go back to the dealer and complain, yea right.all i'm saying if nobody complains yamaha don't know whats going on.and even if they do know and no one complains, do u think they are just going fix things anyway!!!!!

Yup every one has it, its not hurting anything under there....
Steel in a harsh moisture filled environment rusts its just what happens, hit it with 99c worth of paint if it bothers you....

there's been an update for the reverse since 07,nothing new,got it on my phazer,no more issues,if you think yammi's have rust problems,i suggest you take a look at another brand, wont say which 1,you open the hood and it looks like a 10 year old sled engine&muffler, touch up the rust spots and enjoy youre sled, when youre at the dealer complaining about rust, you could be on the trail riding

Rust happens, especially if you trailer alot. I've had Ice buildup on ANY AND EVERY liquid cooled sled I've owned, only fan cooled sleds don't suffer from this because they don't have coolers in the tunnel.
