2006 Apex RTX
I dove back into snowmobiling with both feet and bought a well maintained 2006 Apex RTX. I updated the suspension with an M20 skid, rebuilt, revalved, dual air chamber Fox Floats on front, an Ulmers clutch kit and a few other odds and ends.

I have two long days on the sled and it eats up the bumps and goes like a taped ape.

It goes too fast and especially way to quick. Handling is a little heavy, but that is more on me being out of shape.

Now I’m wondering if I should have bought a lighter, less powerful sled like a Phazer???

Only YOU can decide what is best for the type of machine your looking for.
A Phazer is a completely different machine. IMO at opposite ends of the riding spectrum. And I currently have a Phazer and an Apex, so I can make direct comparisons.

I agree with Macheater the Phazer is totally a different machine. The Phazer is more of a "fun" machine. If you are going to log a lot of miles the Apex is the better choice.

Stay away from Sidewinder. Lol

Tape a Domino under the flipper. Lol. Seriously though. A Vector would be the same sled with less power. Phazer is alot different

...the dirt biker I’m me just likes the “attitude” of the Phazer...is there a law against owning two sleds?

I think the apex is a great sled. I think you will get used to it and sometimes will love that extra boost. As mentioned The Vector is your step down. All depends on how you ride I guess. But as above, don’t get on a sidewinder!

Wait until you get use to your new ride. It may take some time but after your comfortable on it I feel you will be very happy with your end result.

i got to test my renegade 1200 next to my attak gt and can say for sure the yami pulls harder. heavy steering (which i need to adjust) but very fast. wasnt sure if i was gonna keep it since its my spare but i prob will now. if next winter the lakes are frozen normal here it will be a blast.

lol nope. 8 sleds registered to my name atm not counting part sleds in the yard.

the phazer is lighter and fun to throw around and can hang with the apex on long runs at a decent cruising speed for the apex. phazer is running hard at those speeds as i have led on one at ty rides with everyone else on vectors, rx, apex and nitros. i was running the margarita mixer hard.

the apex is more comfortable long distance cruising at higher speeds but can be thrown around with more effort than the phazer.

i own both and they both have their place where they shine more.

I have had my 2007 Apex for 2 winters now. Not getting a lot of miles in but have gotten used to the weight and the power delivery. And went from liking it to loving it. Going to upgrade to a WPX (?) seat and add bar height this off season. It rides well and is crazy fast. Love it.

The WPX seat is made by Seat Concepts I believe. Make sure you look at full sleds model and year applications on their site as it can be confusing. I'm installing my seat foam, +2", and cover this week. I'm 5'8" and my sled came with Rox risers, but the bars feel to tall for me and I'm constantly fighting to hang on during acceleration and its wearing me out. A slight forward lean might mitigate that.

WRP is the seat brand and is owned now by Seat Concepts. I've replaced seats on my 02 Viper, a Boss, on my 06 Attak, a mountain Apex,a Boss and another from Canada, my 11Apex with a WRP, and my 08 Nytro with a WRP. EVERY ONE was an improvement over stock and made the sled much more comfortable. I'm 6'3" with a 36" inseam. Stock seats SUCK LOL!
