DID MY FIRST OIL CHANGE ON MY OWN

I really like the k&n because it has the nut on it, but i change the filter every year and the getting the first filter off the sled was a challenge :o|

If the first filter change is tough to remove, then what is the best way or what tricks are needed?

It seems the original OEM filter is glued on, I used a large screw driver and punch it through the oil filter to twist it off, works ever time. The next time you won't have a problem.

a good set of long t handle wrenches is a must

Now I need to know what you mean by "long t handle wrenches"? :dunno: I have my suspicions, but I want to make sure I understand before I spend more money. What are these wrenches used for on the sled? :dunno: I'm a retired guy and don't really won't to spend money on something I don't really need.

Thanks

Thanks Thor452, that is what I thought they were, just wanted to make sure. I'm most likely going to buy a set.

Rather than T-handles, I bought 4" ball end socket Allen wrenches. They stay in my sled toolkit with long metric sockets and ratchet.

I take that the 4" length Allen wrenches are long enough to do what you need to have done with the sled?

Yes sir. And you can always use a socket extension to reach farther.

What a f in birch to get that first filter off. No run of the mill wrench gets it off. Question is #1 I just opened the drain plug under the sled above the plate 6mm Allen worked for me. Saved the copper washer for reinstall. Let it drain. #1.5 removed the filler plug on the reservoir after removing the sensor plug from it #2 finally got the filter off. #3 screwed on the new one lightly oiled it. (No ring left on the crank case ) #4 poured in 2 quarts into the tank and it ain't taking no more . Notta. Do I have to run the machine to cycle the oil around??? It's supposed to take 3 quarts. No way it will. 2013 Apex. Thanks if you all see this and respond.

#1 Did you make sure the old 0-ring came off ? It's verrrrrrrry important.............
#2. Yes you pour in 2 qts. of oil.. Then start the motor for a few minutes to circulate the oil.....Turn off, then add the last quart... And when you do open the drain make sure next time to remove or loosen the filler cap...MM.

Yes I was very impressed with how well they machined clean the area where the o ring rests. I did I was also considering letting some crappy 0w30 oil run in and back out while I had it open. I didnt;)
