I found a spec sheet for the 07 phazers and it shows the tank is 8.1 gallons and the 08 is 7.0 gallons. Does anyone know if the tank is actually different? thanks.
Yes.They made the change when the govt required less vapor loss through the plastic itself. They had to make the tank thicker and lost cap. in process.

It also has to do with not being able to "top the tank off" all the way with a longer filler neck so when the gas expands it doesn't get pushed out the vent tube. I know mine will take another 1/2 to 3/4 of a gallon more if keep adding it slowly after it reaches the bottom of the filler neck. No need to worry about expanding gas if your going to continue riding after filling.

I cursed that "filler neck" for my first couple of tanks... I noticed it moved a little bit when filling, so I stuck my finger in there and yanked it out. Much to my surprise, once you have it out you can reverse it and put it back in and it acts as a funnel for refueling.
I'm not sure if that's the intended purpose, but I pull it out everytime I refuel.
Just make sure if you do that that your overflow line is properly routed because it will puke gas out of there alot when filled past that white insert.Dont want anyone to have a fire.
i have been filling it righ to the top slowly, havnt had any leak out. Anyone thought about changing tanks to an 07 tank. Wonder if it would fit without changing anything else.
Isnt something different on the bottom for the trim that covers the exhaust shield?
siphoned fuel from the tank today, it would still run but would sputter. Went and filled it up as much as it could physicaly hold and got in 29.1 litres, 7.69 us gallons for anyone who is interested in the actual fuel capacity. I will try to find out the differences in the 07 to 08 tank and what it will take to change it.

I put a 07 tank on my 08 and everything matched up perfectly.

Newer Phazer tanks have bosses to bolt on plastic side covers that aren't found on the '07's. They go about where your knee is if you're sitting on the sled.cannondale27 said:Isnt something different on the bottom for the trim that covers the exhaust shield?
