At 4,500 miles my '06 RTX developed a problem yesterday. After starting the sled following a pit stop the digital gauge freaked out. Rather than showing the fuel level it was stuck on the handlebar heater level. The yellow and red lights were both on and the gauge display would alternate between the clock and "64". The odometer flahed Err 1 and Err 2 a couple of times. The warning lights would flash on and off and the speedometer reading was way off. I tried shutting the sled of and restarting it twice. It did not fix the problems. After riding for about 10 minutes it cleared up and was fine the rest of the day.

This morning I started the sled and the freaky-ness is back.

Has anyone had a similar problem?

I had a problem with my 06 Apex Er and I had moisture in the guage. I took it all apart and the rubber boot in the back of the gauge was not installed correctly. I took the gauge all apart...let it dry good, put it back together installed the rubber boot correctly (pia) and all has been good since. Also got rid of my windshield bag because it seemed to get more moisture with the windshild bag. hope this helps....

I spoke with the dealer yesterday and he suggested the same cause. I bet I jarred the boot loose at some point as I get visible moisture behind the glass on the gauge quite often.

THanks for the reply.
