Pics Prosport Digital Temp Gauge/ Lake Effect Riser-'12 Apex

I am still deciding on a temp gauge myself, just don't know where to mount it and if I really need it now with the addition of a rear cooler?[/quote]

Actually it was nice seeing the difference BEFORE and AFTER installing my rear cooler with a temp gauge. Pretty consistantly 15-20 degrees cooler running. ;)!

I probably should have installed one at the same time I did my cooler, but I guess getting one and doing in the fall waiting for the snow to fly isn't such a bad time either ;)!
(Just have to decide which one I want and where to locate it on my Vector? Different dash/pod than on the Apex's)

Just so you know, I contacted the company that is selling the gauges regarding mounting them on a snowmobile in the weather and received the following reply:

Dave,

None of our gauges are water proof.

Regards
Kyle

They may not be waterproof, but neither are the automotive gauges that a lot of people are using.

I've used my gauge for 3 years with no problems, but I tend to stay out of the water.

I had a digital gauge that I bought on ebay, mounted on my Viper for 3 years. No hiccups at all with it. It even has been through a rain storm while riding. Not an issue. When riding it is protected by the windshield from any freak rainstorms. Granted I wouldn't intentionally keep it out in the rain or exposed to the elements during the summer months. Same deal w/ my Prosport gauge on my Apex. In the end of February, I got caught in a pretty good rain storm riding up in Stillwater, NY. Dried off at the local establishment before heading back out. Turned into a blizzard later that night. No issues w/ using these "automotive" style gauges for these applications in my opinion.

Good to know but I'd still prefer a waterproof one if any exist?
(Suppose a little silicone on the face threads wouldn't be a bad idea as long as the face unscrews?)
