I keep hearing a noise that sounds like a "ding" or a "jangling" sound in the secondary when my sled is sitting at idle. I can't think of a better way to describe it. Not sure what it is but strange noises are disconcerting.

Are you sure it isn't the gear reduction i the primary? Does the sound go away when your rpm increases?

Increase your idle RPM. If it goes away it is your gear reduction. Might also be the sliders in the primary that need to shimmed. At Idle the secondary is not moving, I doubt the noise is coming from there.

It does go away when the throttle increases and on closer inspection it is the primary.

If it is your primary, Yamaha sells a shim kit for the sliders that the spider runs in.
