Looking up in the tunnel top should I throw in some tunnel protecters when I throw this new track in? It looks like it may be fine but would feel better knowing what everyone else is doing.

How good are your eyes? LOL

They come standard from the factory.

Unless you bot the sled used and the previous owner removed them they should still be there.

Overdooinit,

Like Riceburner said, the tunnel protectors were installed at the factory and they should be there unless someone removed them.

You should have two aluminum square tubes running the length of the tunnel lined up over your track windows.

Copy that! Thanks guys. Just wanted to make sure Yamaha didn't have some kind of plastic strip that attached to the aluminum piece. Just kind of figured that a stud would tear the aluminum very easily. Still new to the Yamaha's, thanks for bearing with me. LOL! Happy Holidays!

Overdooinit,

The studs can not contact the protectors because they are centered over the track windows. Threfore only the rubber track rubs on the aluminum protectors.

Don't worry about asking any questions here. We are all here to help each other and you will learn a lot from the great guys on this site.

just make sure you dont put too long of a stud in the track that would hit the tunnel even w/ the protectors when you hit jumps and what not.

Although some guys insist on going longer, I believe that 1/4" to 3/8" beyond the track lugs is as long as you need to go for trail riding.

Much longer than that and the studs are more likely to fold over or worse yet pull out from the additional leverage being put on them.
