Does anyone have news on the RX-1M heat exchangers?

Right after the Yamaha technical update meetings the word came out that Yamaha was going to offer a rear heat exchanger for RX-1 mountains that had experienced over heating problems. It wasn't going to be free but cost somewhere in the $80-$100 range. Has anyone heard any updates on this? My dealer has asked Yamaha on my behalf and frankly has gotten nothing and is questioning my sanity on this one. Is there any up date on the availability of this heat exchanger? Powder Blue

Available by Dec/Jan. Dealers will be getting info about cost soon.
This is NOT a warranty issue, so customer to pay parts and labor. Will be under $100.

Heard the same from my dealer.

If anyone is looking for something right now - I'll sell the rear exchanger that I had cut and welded to fit a Mtn RX. I'm going to wait for the yammie kit.

I called Yamaha 2-3 weeks ago & they said they knew nothing about any rear exchanger coming or any problems!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Did you ask about a Mtn RX kit or a short track kit?

As far as I know the kit is for the mountain sleds only.

I was at a snowmobile show last weekend and spoke to a Yamaha tech. He confirmed that Yamaha is coming out with a rear heat exchanger for the mountain sleds. He said that the heat exchanger would not be a warrantee item, but that the cost would be less then $100. The heat exchanger would be available late November - early December.

That's what I was looking for! I sure wish there was a technical service bulletin # for it. My dealer is just getting nowhere and I hate to miss out on one. Like the carb float bowls there may only be so many made? Powder Blue

there is a snomo show here this weekend i will try and track down one of them hard to find yammi rep and ask him the same question

but i need back ground info because my rx is the first yammi snowmo for me..i take it the mtn max 03 has a rear heat exchanger and the mtn viper 03 has one also so if thats the case that will be my question .what made them think the rx would not need one. heheheheh watch him squirm.

Yamaha Heat Exchangers Shouls ALSO Change the EXHAUST

Well They Should Replace those Exchangers AND they should Fix The Exhaust Direction at the Same Time The Exhaust May Look COOL BUT IT SUCKS if you want to Carry Gas OR ANYTHING ELSE for that Matter
This WAS A STUPID DESIGN and needs a RECALL

TMK50,

YES, I asked 2-3 times with 2 dif people & they thought I was crazy!!!

They looked & came back to the phone & said there is nothing!!!!!!!

I've also called 3 dealers & they know nothing!!!!!

Hardcore, there's a snowshow here this weekend too. Where are you? If I see a rep I will ride him (perferably her) hard about it. I don't believ the 02 Mnt. Vipers had a rear heat exchanger either. The Mountain Maxes do I believe. Personally I think just relocating the cross over tube to the rear of the tunnel extension would make a work of difference. It would actually get snow on it back there. What a concept  Powder Blue
