I bought a can of SEAFOAM but the instructions are vary vage, how do you guys using it use it?

I thought of adding to my engine oil a couple of oz. for prevention,is this the way to go or not...and adding some to the odd tank of gas, like maybe 1/2-(8oz.) every 1000 miles?

I'm not using any oil...I've got 4500 miles on my sled and do my oil changes every 2000 miles, but I hear guys starting to use oil due to carbon build-up...I have carbon at my rear exhaust wich seems normal, every RX1 I've seen seems to have some.At start up I have no signs of blue smoke,it was broken in by the book...

I just want to keep her top shape... :yam:

I put it in my oil on my last day of riding in Canada, and in the gas also! 04 Warrior

I use Seafoam in all the time in the gas; 1 oz./ gal. From what I've read, gas has a very short shelf life.

It's my understanding that adding Seafoam to the oil is something you do just before an oil change to help wash out sludge build up. Personally, I wouldn't add it to the oil, then put on 100 miles. It seems to me that Seafoam would thin out the oil.

I would add it to the oil ONLY while idling right before you change it..

Im sure your really not supposed to put the engine under a Load with the stuff in it..

Especially not if you use a heavy oil, like say, a 5-50 (which is perfectly good for this engine).

What I like to do is splash in a little seafoam 1-200 miles before oil change (ie before end of year) in BOTH oil and gas, run the hell out of it, then change to fresh 5-50. The thicker oil may be better as it won't splash out the breather quite as easily.
