Does the Ulmer Racing Oil Filter Relo Kit Void Warrantee??? I think we all agree its a pain in the #*$&@ to change the oil filter in the apex or attaks. Does anyone have a definite answer as to if the Ulmer Relo kit for oil filters void the extended warrantee??? I called them, good guys, but they said call the dealer, and we all know that could be a coin flip depending on what issue you have with your sled if they cover you. ANy help would be excellent, hope everyones having a good summer.

I would think it depended on what was the problem and the

dealer. But it does give the dealer a way out of a bad situation doesn't it?

Yami doesn't know if there is a filter kit on it or not.

Or do they? Do you not think Yamaha USA and Canada are not reading these forums. They do period!

Actually good point Sled Dog. That would be smart of them to follow fourms closely.

Will it void the warranty? If the slide rails crack or the suspension breaks, no. It would have to be determined that it was the oil filter relocate kits fault for the motor failure, if there was one. Over 50 kits sold last season and no problems and they have been in use since 2004 on the RX-1's as well.

It sounds like your making the kits or work for ULMER, can you work it out with Yami? I'll bet a million bucks that if they say its ok, your going to sell 1,000 units and I'll take two.

I have a kit, it is slick and was installed by my dealer, who is Jerry Fix in Byron MN, a head to head grass drag competitor with Ulmer's. He stated it did not void the warranty.

I wish I could have put more miles on to give a great report. but worked good for my measly 400 miles on that sled last year.

I wish I could get this on my sled, but the supercharger takes up to much room. Any ideas where to mount this with a S/C installed, please give me a shout.

I am part of Ulmer Racing ownership, research & design, development & testing and customer service. I designed & developed the oil filter relocation placement and components and also wrote the instructions for the installation of the kit. The only warranty that would possibly be void would be the engine and only if Yamaha could lay claim to the oil filter relocation kit being the culprit. The Apex ECU senses oil pressure and will shut the motor down if the pressure drops far enough to do engine damage. The relocation kit maintains stock oil pressure, it simply increases the capacity slightly and allows a much easier, faster oil filter change process. These have been in circulation since 2004 on the Yamaha RX-1 and there has never been an issue.

Vince, I have spent days looking for a placement of the oil filter relocation on a supercharged RX-1 and Apex and have yet to find a location that is suitable with plenty of room.

Srxspec, does yami have a certification program for your kit to insure the warrantee is safe. Trouble I have and am sure most of the guys is that the kit is excellent, but the new sleds are so damm much money that if we risk the dealer saying no to a major repair, were sunk for a while. Either that or have a dealer network that will do the work because of their commitment to you. ANy help here would be great. Simply by the mere fact people are creating threads talking about your product and almost willing to risk it shows that the product i solid.

CaptianC, there is no certification program from Yamaha that I know of. The main dealer/distributor we have out east is F&S Yamaha (http://www.fsyamaha.com) but any dealer can become a dealer for our products, just have them contact us.

i asked the dealer in my area Wilson's Yamaha and they say that if something happens to the engine because of an oil... leak they are not responsible, hence void the warranty.... just dont put it on until youve had your first inspection / oil change from the dealer then do it... thats what im doing....plus you could always take it off if something happened
lol :)

this has been proven for a couple years now with not one problem.Dealers are putting them on sleds even.It won't cause a problem.

I agree. What's with all the paranoia? If you want it, put it on. If your engine blows while in warranty, take it off. Heck, I've run 130 lbs of N2O through my sled so far :-o
