My 2011 Vector has the Y.E.S. warranty ending in 2017. Shortly after I started riding it this season, a small tear in the stitching of the seat cover appeared, right at the rear of the seat area. It has grown to about 2" on this seam. Will the YES warranty cover it?

A good dealer would go to bat for you... seat covers are not that expensive.

Well, there aren't too many to choose from where I live. I'll find out. The sled only has about 500 miles on it; the rip started at around 100 miles.

Hello - I have the same exact sled, problem, and the Y.E.S. warranty until 4/17. I bought my sled used and a month ago ( 3,850 miles) and within two hours of riding had the mono-shock fail (so I thought). I brought it to NewportPowersports in Newport Maine and had them check it out. Also, asked to have the seat repaired/replaced under warranty.

They told me after a couple of days that the Y.E.S. warranty wouldn't cover the seat seam failure(although an obvious workmanship problem) and that the adjustment cable for the shock was broken and they wouldn't cover that either.

Good luck with your efforts! Please let me know if you have better results.

I plan to take mine to an auto upholstery guy for repair.

Regards,

Al

Thanks for the info. Since I don't have a covered trailer, (just a landscape trailer and a snowmobile cover - trail connects near my home and currently lots of salt on roads) my plan is to wait until the end of April and make the 1 hour drive to the nearest Yamaha dealer in VT (Turco & Sons). Haven't contacted them yet. However, I wouldn't be surprised if they turn me down...just like most extended warranties for cars, they don't cover hardly anything!

Will update post with results.

With only 500 miles I think they would cover it. I've had excellent customer service from Yamaha since 1979. I even had parts paid for by Yamaha 2 months out of warranty. Call them up, be nice and talk to them about it, 800-962-7926.

Well, that would be nice. I read the YES warranty, and it says it does not cover "dings, dents, scrapes, "TEARS", or other cosmetic damage...only "mechanical breakdown." So this osunds as though they won't cover it. Can't hurt to ask.

I can understand why they would word the warranty that way. We all get scratches, dings, etc., and sometimes seats get torn. In your case, the material is not "torn"-- it's coming apart at a seam from poor workmanship and should be covered.

Good point, it isn't like I did anything to it that caused it to come apart other than properly sitting on it. I will mention that.

I'm an upholster of 40 plus yrs. I can tell you if the stitching is releasing then the sewer didn't sew it properly. And it should be covered. With only a few miles there should be no problem. Call another dealer if not done. Or take some pictures and send them to other dealers. If you send me the picture I can tell and back you up at a dealer.

Thanks Captain. I'm storing the sled at my work; maybe this week I'll send you a picture. Still haven't contacted a dealer yet, so I'm not sure what the reaction from them will be.
