Does your dealer stock parts

agreed. treat your dealers with respect and they'll treat you with respect. i cannot count the things the service guy just gives us. push pins, nuts bolts, helmet screws, dzuz fasteners, rivnuts and the install tool. over the 4 years we've probly got over 50 bucks of random stuff. but i guess thats why my dealer ship was yamaha's first 5 star dealership in canada.

I've called mine when on rides with error codes, always willing hints about how to do things myself and just gave me a great deal on a take off track. Never wait more than a week for any part if it has to be ordered-usually doesn't.

does your dealer stock any parts? Like oil filters, sliders and push pins and other normal wear items. My dealer doesn't have anything, and most of the ppl that work there know nothing? whats your dealer like, and who's the best dealer in Canada??

As the local dealer that 'fxnytro' is referring to I feel obligated to respond to this post. I am doing this all the while my brain telling me 'bad idea' for fear of being beatdown so go easy on me!
I use TY for information all the time and am thankful for the amount of knowledge that I gain about all things Yamaha. The good, the bad and even the ugly.
It is killing me to hear this type of 'review' of my business but rest assured this thread is being printed and shared with my staff to ensure that we can turn around the issues that we can control.

I do want to comment on some specifics, when I order from Yamaha Motor Canada, due to geography and shiiping we tell customers one week to ten days. It usually comes in on the 6th day but it depends on when in the week it is ordered. We do daily orders after store closes. If I pay the air freight for emergency I get it in 5 days because it still gets trucked to my location as there is no airfreight to Fort McMurray. I had my parts manager leave and go to work at a vancouver island yamaha dealer and he tells me they get their parts in 2 days if he air freights.?? Go figure, makes no sense to me.

Staff that has ANY specific knowledge of the powersport industry has been my biggest struggle (and most other Fort McMurray small business) due the high paying oil plants that will employ any ability.
I don't want this to sound like an excuse rather Id like to turn this into an opportunity for employment for some fellow TY'er and YAMAHA enthusiast.

I am currently in need of a Parts Manager with experience with Yamaha Motorcycles, Sleds, A.T.V's, Rhinos....
If you have the aptitude, the interest, the passion and the ability to lead a fast paced parts area and can help me serve the 'fxnytros'' of our busy community please P.M. me.
I have yet to find ANY shop in the country that pays as much as I do for employees, so if you are the right person or you know the person for the job please P.M. me.

fxnytro, I am very sorry we could not serve you to your satisfaction when you took the time to come to our shop. If in the future we are not meeting your expectations please ask for me by name and I will do my best to ensure you are getting the parts and answers that you need. Thank you for your post as 'ugly' as it is for me to hear it is yet another useful TY post for me and my business.

Its good to see a dealer responding to the post. If I was in Ft McMurray I'd apply for the job. Unfortunately I'm in the other Newfoundland.

Deepbreather sounds like a great dealer just trying to make it while facing the realities of owning an isolated Yamaha dealership in today's world. Not an easy task to accomplish.

well thats all fine and well you are having some trouble finding some good help. the prob i see is why not have in stock the parts poeple want and need. are you in an area that people dont ride sleds? do not enuff people come in looking for common parts that it would not make sense to stock them and make some profit instead of them going elsewhere like online? i think your turn around on ordering parts is about the same as if they order them from the states and at a beter price i might add. the reason people will pay you the retail price is if you have what they need now. just my honest opinion.

obviously you cant stock every item every customer wants or needs. with that said, the guy was crystal clear that he is in need of a parts manager in a bad way.
Im sure you are aware how things slip through the cracks when you dont show up for your job for a day, a week or even a month.
if you have someone ordering parts and they know nothing about what to stock or what sells then obviously theres gonna be problems.
It sounds to me like an honest guy trying to defend himself and his business while they are going through a tough time. i would love to have a dealer like this in my area. he sounds like a stand up guy in need of some help bad.
I just crashed my sled 2 weeks ago and spent an entire day calling every dealership in M.A. and N.H.
not 1 single dealership within a 3 hour drive of me had a right lower a arm.
i probably called 9-11 dealers. that doesn't seem like such an odd part to have on the shelf but apparently i have high expectations.
thats just my honest opinion

Local dealer stocks some items - not everything as that would be unreasonable ... lost the clutch side frame on Wed and local dealer (Atlantic Rec) had new part in on Thursday morning so my sled was up and running by today.

i in no means wanted to bash my dealer. I just wanted to compare how other dealers operated and how the consumer felt. After reading 3 pages of this post, i belive my dealer is average

Yes it doesnt seem to bad.....once he gets someone in there that knows what they are doing and knows what parts to have in stock it will be much better ......I hope the help you have how isnt getting a bunch of dead parts for you and wasting your money....I had my own biss. and its tough hard to make everyone happy but u really want to and try really hard too....Good luck ....I would love to app. but i dont think i can get the wife to move...maybe i will ask
