Like I've said before, this is my very first Yammi and am so glad I made the switch from Poo! I've read about it and researched it time and time again but the quality control and precision Yamaha put's into their sleds is second to none! Nobody on this planet builds a 4 stroker like Team Blue and their engines are nothing short of amazing! Yes Yamaha has some weak points like hyfax wear and weaker hand warmers(which don't really bother me) but I'd way rather put in one or two sets of sliders a season as opposed to dealing with continued engine problems! I think a lot of people on here have been riding Yamaha for so many years that they think they are the only one with problems! Maybe a switch of brands would be good, that way they would realize what they had!! Just my opinion, to each there own!

8600 miles on my apex gt.. and 0- engine problems ENOUGH SAID!!

WHen do can make a sled that reliable buy one.. until then ride a yami..

that is very well said

Not sure if the recall is all bad. At least Doo acknowledges the problem and is tiring to fix.

Yamaha did nothing to help with my overheating or cracked W arm.

I’m not knocking Yamaha. I got 12K miles of great riding from my warrior and may stay with Yamaha. I just like the way the GSX felt.

Had 6 Doo's before my Attak and will never go back. My buddy just bought a 09 XP800 and the only good thing I can say about the sled is that it's light. Yamaha makes an exceptional product second to no one...I can't imagine riding anything else!! Can you tell I love my ATTAK!

I understand they are having ALOT of problems and its a shame because I hear the Xps rock! I guess I am going to have to wait to see what 010 brings this year!

My son rides a 2005 Mach-Z, has over 8000 miles on it, a few fouled plugs before a re-mapping. His sled is VERY reliable. Most of the Doo-Talk guys that have problems, have done some "modifications"...
My o3 RX-1 is very nice, we both have clutch kits, and he spanks me every time, from start to finish. We didn't buy our sleds to race, that's what we have a pro-stock sled for.
ALL makes have their problems.........

your son must have gotton a good one.. I know 3 guys who have 05-07 machs and they contantly have problems,, blown engines, malfunctioning sensors, poor gas milage, blown belts.. The list goes on and on..

One of my friends just bought a new 600 doo-poo with the new engine that "needs no maintenance" the E-Tec motor, yeah, he took it out for the first time and with 40miles on it, engine blew needed a whole new motor. Just a little input. Might have been less than 40 miles, but either way 40 miles or 4,000 miles.

Ive been so tempted to try an xp look at them all the time think about how light weight they are how great there suppose to be. I watch them on the hill all the time and they look like they live up to the good they say about them. But I just cant seem to pull the trigger on one I always say next year lol. Yamaha makes one hell of a sled that you can ride in confidence ;)!

I would like to weigh in as a former member of the doo camp. Was a hard core doo subscriber for 20+ years and wouldn't consider anything else. Motors gernading was just part of sledding, I believed. Then the Yami four strokes came on the scene. I waited a few years for BRP to step up and they didn't. The 4-stroke tech intrigued me so much I switched to Yami. My 07 nytro is the first venture away from BRP and I am very happy with it. Sure Yami has some issues but nothing compared to 2-stroke reliability in my opinion. Reliability, power, fuel economy, and no smoke is awsome!

I admit I fail to understand the obsession with weight although I'm only a trail rider so weight is at the bottom of the list of concerns for me. Maybe this is important to the mountain guys but I have not felt the weight penalty going from any of my mxzs to my nytro. I think that the BRP 2-strokes are a great product if you're changing every year (and even then you could get bit with a lemon and have problems right away) but if you want to hold on to them for more than a year (as I like to do) you're going to replace a motor sooner or later. In the past I always rode believing my sled's engine was a time bomb and was happy to return for a trip in tact. Many let me down, and a few didn't. Now I don't worry about whether I'll return on the receiving end of a tow rope.

If I were to look back at the yellow side it would be at the 1200 but we'll see how that holds up over time. In the mean time I find more excitement in what Yami has to offer and will stay for a while ... maybe even a long while.

Just my humble opinion.

Man,I am so tempted to buy an 09 XP. I think I am going to wait and ride my Nytro rest of the year then see what EVERY one comes out with. I really really hope that new poo is going to be a 4 stroke!
they are coming out with a new 4 stroke engine to replace the fst motor. still gonna be a pile of crap
