Is it possible to buy a drive axle bearing that has the old style rubber seals, I like being able to re-pack them with grease. The new ones are sealed with non-removable metal shield/seals.

our 5 star dealer went to the steel shield covers and I voiced my opinion on those. I was told you don't need to service them every year and they are completely sealed with this new feature. I grabbed one to test it out last year and at the end of the season I will have my findings. Either way Im opting for rubber seals next change over
Don't forget the deflector, early sleds did not have it. 8FN-47377-00-00

I ended up prying the steel shield seal out and re-greased it. The original grease looked good, it was pink in color and nice and clean. I repacked it anyway, it is harder getting the seal out but it will come out.

I would guess approx 1500 miles . Another idea might be to drill 2 tiny holes in the seal at 12 and 6 oclock just big enough so that a needle grease adapter would fit in. Pump grease in one hole and let the access/old grease come out the other then clean with brake cleaner and silicone the holes. I did damage the seal slightly but fixed it and it went back in nicely.
