drive system with reverse capability...

there is another way, check out the rear track drive system out there, better traction, more afficent, and insanely better braking.

There is also a company in finland that makes a computer controlled primary and or secondary clutch that uses servos to shift. I am surprised this has not shown up on a sled yet. you can change everything about it on your puter and it has three different buttons on the bar to change from power, mileage or towing. wouldnt that be great. They claim more power to the ground but I wonder if that is just from having a more perfectly adjusted clutch. its about 2000$ for the kit.

I've seen that rear drive system, I think it was in Popular Mechanics a few years ago and the guy had built/designed it into a Rev chassis. Novel Idea for a drive system but I don't think it would come anywhere NEAR what he was claiming for performance gains, especially with all the added gears and chains to transfer the power. It Also puts the "tight" side of the track against the sliders under acceleration which would cause better traction by keeping the lugs from folding over BUT at the same time press the track against the sliders.

Actually a swedish company. www.pivario.com

Anyone else have any ideas?

Maybe a planetary system like the diamond drive would work. Though they have their own set of problems. Maybe separate the reverse mechanism from the chain case so that weight could be reduced more easily?

I don't know... I just know that I love reverse!!
