ECU and mileage

Hi,
I bought a used Sidewinder this weekend. The seller said that the instrument cluster had been replaced so the milage are to low. He also said that the hours is stored in the ECU so the hours are right.

Does anyone know how and where this things are stored?

I might been a little vague. My question was if the running hours is stored in the ecu so that the running hours will ramain after a instrument cluster replacement.

Hours are stored in the ECU , mileage in the cluster.

Replace the cluster your mileage is gone but the hours are maintained in the ecu and the cluster will read the hours off the ecu.

Is the sled flashed with a tune? If so (its possible)while its started motor running that hour meter display becomes your boost level. Check it with the key turned on and engine not running if it has a single tune on it.,.
